He hurried forward and addressed the TV host in charge of the live broadcast, saying,
“Herbert, since the hearing is over, why don’t you go ahead and end the live stream? There’s no need to waste everyone’s time on private matters.”
Herbert was one of the most well-known hosts under the Bennett Group—an industry heavyweight and the face of Bennett Films. Naturally, she didn’t feel obliged to take orders from Noelle.
She looked at Noelle and replied with a gentle, unfazed smile,
“Didn’t Mr. Jensen and Mrs. Jensen just express doubts about the experts’ conclusions? That means things still aren’t clear. The public has a right to know the final result—how can we shut off the stream now?”
“You…”
Noelle’s face tightened with frustration at Herbert’s refusal.
Lowering her voice, she leaned in, her tone warning,
“You know Landon hates having his private life broadcasted online. I’m asking you to stop the stream for your own good.”
But Herbert had already guessed what Noelle was after before she even arrived. She knew exactly why Noelle was so desperate to end the broadcast.
Ha! She was hardly going to play along.
“I seem to remember you posting about Mr. Ford online with a fair bit of enthusiasm, Noelle. And since Mr. Ford himself hasn’t objected, I doubt he’ll have a problem with this either.”
She even patted Noelle’s shoulder, as if to reassure her,
“Don’t worry. Mr. Ford’s far too handsome for us to make him look bad on camera.”
Noelle’s face went from red to white and back again at Herbert’s stubbornness. But she also knew Herbert’s clout—there was no way she’d be intimidated.
Her anxiety only grew.
“So, are you shutting it off or not?”
“Not a chance,” Herbert replied, all smiles.
