“Landon, please—I’m begging you, as your uncle. Could you come to the hospital and check on her? She won’t even let the doctors treat her.”
In the end, Landon agreed.
“I’ll head over now.”
He hung up, glanced down at the stain on his shirt, and ducked into the lounge to change into a fresh one before heading out of the Ford Group building toward Veridian University Affiliated Hospital.
Meanwhile, in the ER waiting room, Noelle sat slouched in a chair, scrolling idly through her phone—hardly looking as desperate as Juniper had described over the phone.
“Noelle, let the doctor take care of your foot, please. What if it leaves a scar?” Rosalie frowned, watching her daughter lounge with the nonchalance of someone waiting for a spa appointment.
“We could’ve just gone to Enliven Urgent Care, couldn’t we? Why insist on coming here? What if you run into Zinnia? That would be awful.”
Just the mention of Zinnia was enough to sour Rosalie’s expression.
At that, Noelle lifted her gaze, a sly smile touching her lips.
“I want Zinnia to know—even if the whole world recognizes her as Landon’s wife, Landon only cares about me.”
Rosalie started to protest, but Noelle interrupted her.
“Mom, did you get that video I asked for?”
“I did, I did—don’t worry. As soon as Landon arrives, I’ll find the right moment to send it out.”
Just as she finished speaking, Juniper’s voice piped up from the doorway.
“He’s here—Landon just got here!”
Noelle immediately handed her phone to Rosalie.
