Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 165

After weighing her options, Juniper finally looked at Landon, her expression a blend of frustration and forced humility.

It was as if she believed Landon had the ultimate say in how this mess would be handled.

“Landon, we truly didn’t expect Noelle to act so recklessly, to even joke about something like this. Thankfully, Xander wasn’t seriously hurt, so let’s just put this behind us, shall we?”

Landon arched an eyebrow. “Put it behind us?”

Juniper nodded, her embarrassment barely concealed.

“Noelle’s only turned out this way because we’ve spoiled her. Once we’re home, we’ll make sure she understands the seriousness of her actions. We’re truly sorry for all the trouble she’s caused you and the hospital, Zinnia.”

Despite addressing Zinnia and the hospital, Juniper’s words were directed entirely at Landon—almost as if his forgiveness would magically resolve everything.

Landon let out a low, humorless chuckle.

He lazily lifted his gaze to meet Juniper’s eyes. “But I’m not the victim here. It’s not my call to make.”

A flicker of unease crossed Juniper’s face. “I... see…”

He understood what Landon was getting at. Only then did he reluctantly turn his attention to Zinnia. “Zinnia—”

“We can leave it at that,” Zinnia cut in before he could finish.

“But my condition stands: Noelle needs to go online and clarify the truth, clear my name and the hospital’s. Do that, and I’ll consider the matter settled.”

She gave a small, inscrutable smile, her eyes fixed on Juniper, who was clearly desperate to shield his daughter.

“And as for poor Xander—well, if even his own parents can turn a blind eye to what happened, then what right do the rest of us have to care?”

The implication was impossible to miss.
