Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 189

The frustration simmering inside Landon was written all over his face—a mix of stubborn pride and wounded ego he couldn’t shake.

Zinnia, of course, had no idea he was mentally competing with a dog again.

She noticed the growing anger in his eyes, pressed her lips together, and spoke in her usual calm, even tone.

“I told you there was no need to pick me up. You insisted. If you don’t want to wait a few minutes, you really didn’t have to come.”

No one forced you.

Landon fell silent, his expression stuck somewhere between indignation and disbelief.

So, what now? As the so-called official spouse, he wasn’t even allowed to be upset? He hadn’t stormed over to her place demanding answers, but she was annoyed already?

Landon pursed his lips, staring at Zinnia.

“So now I’m just meddling, is that it?”

Zinnia didn’t answer right away.

“I just didn’t want to waste your time,” she said eventually. “You were clearly annoyed just now, weren’t you?”

He couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Her calm logic left him seething, unable to catch his breath.

“Is that really why I’m upset?” he gritted out, voice tight with frustration.

Zinnia just blinked at him, bewildered.

The look in her eyes made his chest ache all over again.

“I can’t stand how you treat that useless mutt better than me, okay?” Landon blurted. The words tumbled out, tinged with bitterness and hurt.

What a joke he’d become. The official husband, and yet he felt like the odd man out. Zinnia had been kind to him before, sure, but never this attentive—not the way she doted on Dapper.
