Leanna jumped at Landon’s sudden, low shout, fumbling to close the “Leanna’s Little Puppies” app.
“That scared the heck out of me.”
Her words stumbled out, nothing like her usual smooth, cult-leader pitch.
Clutching her phone, she quickly hid it behind her back.
These were her precious little darlings—no way was she letting Landon confiscate them.
With a stormy expression, Landon strode right up to her and held out his hand. “Give it to me.”
“No way.”
Leanna ducked behind Zinnia, her head lowered, sounding pitiful. “Zinnia, look at him~!”
Landon shot Zinnia a glare, then turned back to Leanna, scowling even more fiercely.
“What on earth were you just showing Zinnia?”
“What do you mean, ‘on earth’? I was sharing my little treasures with her!”
Leanna raised her voice in protest. “Are you jealous that my puppies are young and full of energy?”
She mimicked her father’s sarcastic tone, dragging out her words, “Oh, please. Isn’t your mind always on your precious Noelle? Now you’re upset just because I want to show Zinnia my puppies? Don’t be such a hypocrite!”
“Leanna!!”
Landon looked like his head might explode from rage.
Is the whole family determined to steal his thunder?
“See, Zinnia?” Leanna complained loudly. “Just mention his Noelle and he gets all worked up. He’s so defensive about her.”
For a split second, Landon had the urge to wring Leanna’s neck.
“Fine. Leanna, you’ve lost your allowance for next month.”
Leanna’s eyes went wide in horror.
