Connor rambled on, “Worst comes to worst, you could pull some strings and get Noelle out. With the Ford family’s influence, getting her released should be a piece of cake, right? Even if Zinnia has objections, she wouldn’t dare make a big scene with you...”
“Connor.”
Landon suddenly cut him off.
It was only then that Connor noticed the stormy look on Landon’s face. His own chatter died instantly.
What... what did I say wrong?
Wasn’t I just trying to comfort him?
Why is he glaring at me?
I didn’t say anything out of line, did I?
“Can you just shut your mouth?”
Landon’s voice was edged with irritation, his anger barely contained. The outburst startled Connor into silence.
Connor was baffled. Landon was usually the most level-headed guy he knew—what could have set him off so suddenly?
Clearly, Noelle getting arrested had rattled him more than anyone realized, Connor thought to himself.
“Landon, how about we check out that new bar Cheers Infinity? If you don’t like my ideas, maybe we can brainstorm with everyone—someone’s bound to come up with something helpful.”
Landon didn’t say whether he’d heard the second half of Connor’s suggestion, but after driving in silence for a while, he finally nodded his agreement.
The bar had a memorable name: Cheers Infinity. Its slogan was even more ridiculous—
“If the moon’s not sleeping, neither am I. I’m the bar’s little darling.”
One look at the name and slogan, and you could tell the owner was a real character.
Sure enough, the eccentric owner, Arrow, was already waiting out front, and as soon as Landon’s Bentley pulled into the lot, Arrow hurried over to greet them.
