Zinnia didn’t bother glancing at anyone else in the room. Calmly, she pulled out the contract she’d brought along, just in case, and placed it on the coffee table.
The word “divorce” hung in the air, and everyone exchanged uneasy glances.
Today was supposed to be their third wedding anniversary. Landon had said he wanted to apologize to his wife and take the chance to propose to her properly, so everyone had gathered for the occasion.
No one had expected things to go this far. Maybe Zinnia wouldn’t forgive him, maybe they wouldn’t patch things up—but divorce? That felt like a leap too far, especially since he truly hadn’t cheated on Noelle.
But now, it was clear: Zinnia had come to end the marriage.
Restlessness rippled through the group as the gravity of her words set in. One by one, people started finding excuses to leave—first one, then another, then a third—until the room gradually emptied out.
Landon stayed frozen in place, still kneeling on one knee like a man turned to stone.
“Uh… Landon, we should get going too. Spike’s acting up again at home…” Arrow started to say, only for Sonya to pinch him hard, making him yelp in pain.
“Landon, don’t do anything rash. Try talking to her calmly, okay?” Sonya said.
After everyone had left, a heavy silence settled over the living room.
Zinnia pressed her fingers to her brow, not even angry anymore—just tired.
“Stand up,” she said at last.
She picked up the divorce agreement and handed it to Landon. “Take a look. If you don’t have any objections, sign it.”
The agreement was straightforward.
Although they were husband and wife, Zinnia hadn’t tried to walk away with half of Landon’s assets. She’d simply included the “compensation” Landon himself had promised in their original contract.
