After thinking it over, Zinnia finally called Landon.
Just like before, he picked up almost immediately.
On the other end, Landon's cautious voice came through.
"Zinnia? Did you need something?"
"Did you send me that money?"
There was a long pause, and then he answered softly, "Yeah."
"It's too much. I don't need it. Just transfer me the amount we agreed on in the contract."
Another short silence.
Then Landon's voice, more serious now: "It's what you deserve."
Zinnia wanted to say that, for three years, they’d only been married in name—hardly a real marriage. She felt awkward accepting so much from him.
"Landon..."
His low, hoarse voice interrupted her, with a hint of words left unsaid.
"I've given the Jensen family nearly a billion over the years. You're my wife. You shouldn't get less than them."
Zinnia was speechless.
"It's too much. I can't accept it."
Throughout their marriage, Landon had given her everything—except love. After the divorce, a hundred million, as per their agreement, felt justified. But this... this was ten times as much. She simply couldn't bring herself to take it.
After all, all the feelings she'd poured into the marriage had been her own choice. To ask Landon for more because of that would be... pointless.
It was as if Landon could read her mind. He didn't argue, just asked quietly, "Before the Christmas holidays, let's go finalize the paperwork to transfer those properties. When are you free?"
Zinnia was about to insist she didn't want them, but Landon spoke again before she could—
