“Are you okay with watching Rose until we get back?” I ask as I adjust the t–shirt I had pulled on. I had run into my room to get dressed as soon as we got home. The twins had gone to their rooms to change as well.

“It’s fine,” Uncle Mike assures me as he

“Mommy?” Rose asks as she looks up at me from her drawing as well. She then slides the picture in front of me.

“It’s fine baby. We just have to go take care of a few things at the pack house. We’ll be home for dinner,” I tell her as I plant a kiss on her forehead.

“I come?” Rose asks as she sets down her markers.

“You’re going to stay here and make pretty pictures,” I tell her as I kneel beside her. I study the stick figure family.

“What wrong?” she asks me as she sets down her markers.

“A lot, Rosebud,” I tell her as I wrap my arms around her. I then let go and look at her. “But we are going to fix it.”

“I help?” Rose begs me.

“You are helping by coloring us pictures to make us smile,” I say point to the picture she had been

drawing.

“Daddy and Papa protect you?” Rose asks.

“They will keep me safe as Uncle Mike keeps you safe,” I tell her.

“I stay with Grandpa,” she sighs to me and then picks up her marker again.

“Grandpa?” I whisper to Uncle Mike,

His eyes are blown wide as if he can’t believe what he has heard.

“I do somethim wrong?” Rose asks as she looks up from what she was doing.

“No baby, you did nothing wrong,” I sooth her. My little Rosebud is aw inspiring. She adopts people into her family. Even more, she is content with her ever–growing family. Goddess, I wish we had not spent so much time locked in my parent’s basement. She would have so many friends. I wrap my arms around her again and hug her tightly.

“Hey, we good to go?” Mark asks as he comes back in. He is wearing black slacks and navy blue button–down shirt.

“I was going to say yes, but now I feel underdressed,” I mutter as I look at how handsome my mate is. I let go of Rose and she picks up her markers to keep on coloring.

“You look beautiful,” Cal smirks at me as he comes into the dining room. Cal is wearing black slacks too, and a charcoal button–down shirt.

“Now I am very underdressed,” I huff as I turn to go change my clothes. I am not going to show up wearing old comfort clothes that had at one point belonged to my mates or Vickie. I really needed to go shopping and get some of my own things to wear.

“Nope, out of time,” Mark laughs as he snags my waist as I try to leave. He is throwing me over his shoulder and walking towards the front door.

I am about to protest, when Mark carries me out the door. I settle for glaring at Cal as we make our way to the pack house..

Cal gives me a smirk as he follows us.

I push myself up so I can glare at Cal more efficiently. “Enjoying the show?” I demand. I refuse to

look around to see if pack members are staring. I focus, instead, on Cal. I see his smirk turn into a

smile. Trying to figure out why he is smiling, I turn and see Mark raise his hand. “Markus! Don’t you

dare!” I shout but I am too late.

Mark’s hand comes down on butt. A resounding smack is heard as my butt jiggles. Mark then lets out a laugh at my discomfort. I glare at both of my mates. I am paying too much attention to Cal that I don’t see Mark smack my ass again.

“Payback is a bitch, remember that,” I hiss at my mate. He just lets out a cackle as he continues on towards the pack house. Cal chuckles at my threat. “I did not forget about you and your lack of

assistance.”

Cal smirks as he speeds up. He snags me from his brother and then takes off jogging towards the pack house.

“I dislike you right now,” I grumble as my butt still hurts.

“I did save you,” Cal smirks down at me.

“After Markus abused my butt, I growl.

I look at him in confusion.

His smirks widens as he throws me over his shoulder.

“Calyx don’t you-” I start before I cut off by Cal smacking my ass this time. I let out a hiss of pain

and anger.

“Very soft,” Mark laughs as he catches up to us.

“That it is,” Cal agrees as he shifts me back to a bridal carry.

“I hate you both right now,” I growl at my twins.

Both let out twin laughs as we make it to the pack house.

“I’m glad you find this situation funny,” Jonas growls at us as he is waiting at the door. “I see that the Luna is taking her roll very serious.”

I shrink into Cal as the pack elder announces his displeasure of me. I was expecting some anger at me, but not as soon as we arrived.

“Our mate is fine,” Cal growls as he walks around the elder.

Mark stays behind to deal with the elder as Cal takes me to their office.

“Sorry,” I whisper. I have no idea what I am apologizing for, I just feel like I need to.

“Love, you did nothing wrong,” Cal tries to sooth me.

“But now the pack elder is even more upset,” I say I wiggle to get out of Cal’s hold.

“Love, ignore Jonas,” Cal says as he tightens his hold on me.

“He is just a dick,” Mark says as he comes into the office.

“He is still an elder,” I say.

“Not for long,” Cal growls. “Come on, we have a meeting to conduct.”
