To protect what's mine (Amalie) novel Chapter 148

Chapter 148 Amalie

I rollover and I fully wake up. I’m cold from the lack of warmth front my mates. Cracking open an eye, I confirm that they are both gone. I really with that the twins were here with me.

What do you think.

ask Beren as I stare at the ceiling.

About the witch or about us?’ Beren asks lazily. I feel like she is stretching out like a cat in the sum

I don’t know, both?I ask hesitantly. I’m dreading the answer to both. What if Beren doesn’t want a pup yet? What if we fail as mothers? What if we can’t protect our baby? What if-

Breathe!Beren orders me sharply, breaking me out of my spiral.

I take a shuddering breath to try and calm myself.

Again, she orders sternly. We need to keep stress down for now.

I take another breath and then another. I’m okay,I assure her.

Good, because never doubt that I wouldn’t be excited for a pup,she assures me.

Are we?I ask hesitantly.

‘I don’t know for sure, but there is a good possibility, she tells me.

Tears streak down my cheeks. Goddess, why?I demand sharply.

Are you saying that you don’t want a pup?Beren whispers softly to me.

No!I practically shout. No, I want a pup. But is now a good time for a baby?

I don’t think that there is ever a perfect time for a pup. But we can handle a pup,she tells me, sincerity dripping from her words.

I take another breath before I roll over. I get out of bed to go find my mates. First, I use the adjoining bathroom. Once done, I wash my hands and brush my teeth. I leave the bathroom with one more sigh. Grabbing a sweatshirt, left by Cal, if going by the smell, I leave the room.

I slip it on over my tshirt and shorts. I pad softly down the hallway to find Cal and Mark.

Ma,Rose sighs tiredly as she comes out of he

room.

Hi baby,I say as I pick her up and place her on my hip.

She lays her head on my shoulder and wraps her tiny arms around my neck.

You left,she whispers.

No, I promised remember? I wouldn’t leave without telling you,I sure her.

Okay, she tells me. She still sounds broken.

Hey, your birthday is in next month,I say trying to cheer Rose up.

You make me cake?Rose asks as she lifts her head up.

Of course,I tell her with a smile. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting?

Lots of choco-she tries to say.

Chapter 148 Amalie

Chocolate,I laugh as I sound out the word for her

Cholote, she says proudly, still butchering the word. We go tell daddy and papa, she tells me as she wiggles out of my arms. When her feet touch the floor, she takes off running towards the dining room to find her fathers.

With a smile, I walk after my pup: I enter the dining room to see Rose sitting on Mark’s lap. She is talking to fast for them to understand het. On top of that, she is butchering her words.

Good morning love,Cal tells me. His smile is strained as he reaches his hand to me.

1 take it and sit down beside me. There is no homemade breakfast this morning, just some cereal, milk, and fruit. A bowl is slid in front of me. I look at the cereal boxes on the table. Fruitloops sound amazing right now.

I pour my selection into my bowl. Cal then pours the milk for me. I am then gobbling down my cereal. When my bowl is empty, Cal pours more cereal into my bowl for me and slides a small plate with strawberries in front of me.

I smile and pick up a strawberry to eat, when nausea rolls through me. I set back down the berry and place a hand on my stomach. My other hand goes to my mouth. I take a deep breath to try to settle my stomach.

It doesn’t help. The nausea continues to grow. I stand abruptly and run towards my room. I slam my shoulder into the doorframe but continue towards the bathroom. I am barely able to make it to the toilet.

I am heaving back up my cereal from a minute ago. I continue to throw up until there is nothing left in my stomach. I then continue to heave a few more times.

I smell Cal before I feel his touch on my back. He rubs circles on my back, trying to sooth me.

I thought morning sickness doesn’t start until like, week four,

say as I lean back against Cal.

Are you?Cal asks me hesitantly.

I don’t know, but,I say as I trail off, unsure of what to say.

Okay, but take it easy until Uncle William has you test again,Cal tells me as he places a kiss on my forehead.

I nod my head as I continue to sit on the floor with my mate.

Do you want anything?Cal asks me.

Water?I ask him hesitantly.

Do you want to lay down and I can bring you something to drink?he asks me.

I nod my head. The movement sends nausea rolling through me again. I clutch my stomach to try and steady myself.

Are you okay?Cal asks me.

No,I moan in pain as I clutch my stomach.

Cal stands up and then picks me up. He carries me back to the bed and sets me down. I curl up on my side and cover up with the comforter.

Rest love,Cal says as he places a kiss on my forehead. He leaves the room but comes back a minute later. Drink and rest,he tells me as he sets down a glass of water.
