Noelle couldn't help but laugh softly. Anyone would melt at such a sweet and bright-eyed Bonnie.
She handed over the gift she'd prepared in advance for Bonnie and said, "Thank you for coming to cheer me on, and I got something for you, too.
"I heard you like racing. This race car model is one of a kind, and I hope you'd like it too."
She had plenty of race car models. Most were limited editions and collectibles unavailable anywhere else.
She hadn't expected someone as young as Bonnie to be into racing. Hunter had explained that their home was filled with race cars, and growing up in that environment, Bonnie had naturally developed a love for them.
"Thank you, Mommy!" Even without looking inside the gift, Bonnie was thrilled. She whispered, "You have to wait until you're back in your room to open my gift, Mommy."
Noelle agreed.
The qualifying race had strict rules, so Noelle didn't join them for dinner. They agreed to meet at the venue at the racing circuit the next day, since entry into the hotel required registration.
When they parted, Bonnie wasn't sad. She was just confident that Noelle would win and had more faith in Noelle than the latter had in herself.
Back in her room, Noelle opened the gift. It was a family portrait clearly drawn by Bonnie of all three of them wearing stylish racing suits with little bows on hers and Bonnie's.
Noelle chuckled softly. She placed the drawing on her desk, took a selfie with it, and sent it to Bonnie. "Thank you for the gift, Bonnie! I love it!"
As for Bonnie, she was too absorbed in playing with her new toy to check her smartwatch.
…
At the Haberkorn residence, Laura summoned Liam home and was clearly displeased. "I heard Hunter brought his illegitimate daughter back to Brindley and didn't even think about coming home. Since you're attending the International Grand Prix as a guest tomorrow, talk to him when you see him.
"He hasn't been home in years. Ask him straight out if he has decided he doesn't want the Haberkorn family anymore and if he still considers himself a Haberkorn. He's getting more reckless by the day."
She made no effort to hide her disdain for Hunter. He had no sense of decency, and now, he was dating a divorcee. He'd rather fly over to Brindley just to watch Noelle's race than set foot in the Haberkorn residence.
