Even with a mask on, Wilson could feel the murderous air radiating from Lola. His voice stammered, "Q-Quake, what's wrong?"
Why did she look unhappy?
Lola calmed herself, her tone softening. "They've all left. Why didn't you go with them?"
She had planned to follow the crowd quietly, drawing as little attention as possible. But Wilson was like a stubborn leech she couldn't shake off.
Right now, Lola didn't want anyone to notice her at all.
Wilson, oblivious to her thoughts, immediately became obsequious. "I was waiting for you! There's a discussion session later, Quake. Everyone thinks you've been holding back and not showing your real skill. You need to let them see what true talent looks like! Let's make all those losers shut up!"
With his cocky tone, anyone unfamiliar might have assumed he was the real Quake.
Lola was speechless. She really wanted to slap him. When did they become close enough for him to boss her around?
Her voice turned cold. "I'm not feeling well. I won't be participating in the discussion. Could you inform them on my behalf?"
The villa was huge. Even if she skipped the session, she could go elsewhere.
She had intended to meet more people and make connections, but now her plans were disrupted. She would need to brush up on car modification knowledge and memorize Noelle's schematics. Otherwise, she would continue to embarrass herself.
Wilson looked surprised and said, "But Mr. Lloyd said he'll come this afternoon to discuss with you, Quake. Are you not going to the afternoon session either?"
Lola's heart sank. She hadn't expected Raymond to show up. He was far more valuable than Wilson.
She didn't give a firm answer. "I'll rest for now. If I feel better, I'll attend the afternoon session."
She thought, "If I show up at the event now, will Lucy target me again? I have to think of a plan."
Wilson didn't question her and just chuckled. "No problem, Quake. We'll wait for you!"
...
That afternoon, the absence of the famed Quake stirred suspicion. Noelle didn't say anything, but murmurs spread.
"Is that Quake even real? The real one would have extensive experience, and just looking at her outfit and figure, she seems too young to have that kind of expertise."
