Lola gritted her teeth. "Fine. The team is yours. You can run the evaluations again."
She had her own plan.
She had just spoken with Lucas, and they had already agreed that the stronger drivers would deliberately throw the tests. That way, they could walk away openly and form a brand-new team later.
When the dust settled, Lucy would be left with nothing but an empty shell of a team, worth almost nothing. Lola, on the other hand, would still come out of it looking like someone who honored her word.
Hearing this, Noelle smiled faintly. "Georgia, draft a new contract and include every condition we just agreed on."
When the revised contract was handed over, Lola's chest felt tight. She had gone in hoping to take advantage, yet in the end, she had been the one stripped of her team. The bitterness sat in her gut like a stone she couldn't get rid of.
Once the papers were signed, Noelle left satisfied. Before walking out, she reminded Lucas, "For now, I'll need you to handle the team's management. My schedule is full, but when I have time, I'll step in."
Lucas didn't think much of her, but like it or not, Lucy was his new boss. All he could do was nod in agreement.
Not long after she left, Noelle picked up her phone and called Clifford.
On the other end, his voice carried a sneer. "Well, look who finally remembered me. What's the matter, couldn't hack it at the training camp and came running back? Hate to break it to you, but even if you wanted to return…"
Noelle cut him off before he could finish. "Clifford, do you have no shame? Zayne's eyesight is failing, and as his father, you still refuse to take him to a hospital. Do you want me to report you for child abuse?"
Clifford snapped, "Lola already took him to see a doctor. The doctor said there's nothing serious. He just needs rest. Don't exaggerate!"
"You have one day," Noelle said sharply. "If you don't take Zayne to the hospital yourself, I'll go to your partners and expose the material defects in Thunderscape Group's last shipment. Let's see if they'll still feel safe doing business with you after that."
Her words left Clifford cornered. He snarled, "You're insane, Noelle! Just wait. Once I have Zayne's medical report, you'll be the one apologizing!"
He cut the call with a slam.
Though her words had been a threat, Noelle didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt. No matter how disappointed or angry she was at Zayne, he was still her child. She would never stand by and watch him go blind.
