After Noelle finished speaking, she took Alexis with her to check out the other cars. Wilson, clearly annoyed, muttered at her back, "Raymond, did you see that attitude? If she really had that kind of pull, would she be wasting it on playing around in some exhibition game and putting herself through all this trouble?"
Raymond shot him a look, his expression full of exasperation.
Wilson shut his mouth instantly.
Not far away, Lola was chatting with Lucas from Flying Speed Racing. She was dressed to kill in a body-hugging dress that showed off every curve, instantly catching the attention of countless men around her.
Racing events were already male-dominated, and this one was hosted by a rich heirs' club, so she had put even more effort into her appearance than usual.
"Lucas, thank you so much for bringing me here. I've been into racing for so long, but I've never gotten into one of these events before. I heard their exhibition games get really wild. I can't wait for the game tomorrow."
She stood close to Lucas, her arm brushing lightly against his.
Lucas grinned and said, "No big deal. There are plenty of events like this. If you're into it, I'll bring you along next time."
His eyes flicked down toward the line of her chest before he quickly forced them back up.
Lola bit her lip, her gaze drifting toward Raymond, not far away. She remembered him. Last time, Flying Speed Racing had gone up against his crew.
And Raymond had won.
Lucas and his team usually looked down on spoiled heirs like Raymond, who liked messing around. But since this event was tied to him somehow, Lola said, "Lucas, Mr. Lloyd's here, too. Let's go over and say hi, okay?"
Afraid he'd refuse, she added, "We're all racers. Now that we have investors and a legit company, we're not some street crew anymore. Networking with guys like him might bring in sponsors. It could mean more perks for our team down the road."
Ever since Clifford had invested in Flying Speed Racing, Lola had become one of the voices that carried real weight in the team.
Lucas agreed. Sure, they used to look down on Raymond and had even clashed with him, but Lola had a point. They were a professional team now, and having too many enemies wouldn't help their growth.
Racing was business now.
They quickly walked over to Raymond.
Lola greeted Raymond sweetly, "Hi, Mr. Lloyd. I'm Lola Perez from Flying Speed Racing. We raced against your guys last time. Do you remember that?"
Raymond was already in a foul mood. Seeing Lola with Lucas made him even less patient. He popped a cigar in his mouth, slid on his sunglasses, and said, "Of course.
