After saying that, she started eating the kiwi, ignoring Xavier.
Seeing this, the corner of Aveline’s mouth twitched into a slight smile.
Xavier was looking right at her. Seeing her faint, mocking smile, he figured she was laughing at him. He lowered his eyes and smiled to himself.
Just then, Xavier’s phone, which was on the coffee table, started ringing.
Aveline instinctively glanced over and saw the name Josephine. Her expression remained calm as she looked away.
Xavier picked up the phone and answered, “Hello.”
“Yeah, we just finished eating.”
“Okay, I’m on my way now.”
Then he hung up, stood up, grabbed his jacket, and while putting it on, said to Valentina:
“Valentina, Uncle has to go out for something. You can sleep here tonight. Your aunt will be with you.”
Valentina looked up at Xavier and said happily, “Okay! I want to sleep with Auntie.”
Xavier smiled. “Then you should ask your aunt.”
As he spoke, he looked toward Aveline.
Aveline met his gaze coldly for a moment, then said to Valentina, “Go on and eat. You need to brush your teeth when you’re done.”
Xavier didn’t say anything else and left.
Aveline had wanted to tell him about signing the agreement tomorrow, but it wasn’t appropriate to say it in front of Valentina.
So, she took out her phone and sent Xavier a text: [Let’s get the agreement signed tomorrow.]
Xavier replied a moment later: [Okay.]
Then, Aveline heard the sound of a car driving away from the front yard.
Aveline felt a weight lift off her chest.
Once the agreement was signed and the divorce finalized, she and Xavier would be completely done.
As for Valentina, even though she liked her as an aunt, if she and Xavier divorced, Brielle would teach Valentina to

visit her less often.
Although she also liked Valentina, she was Xavier’s niece. If they continued to see each other too often, Xavier and the Zimmerman family might think she couldn’t let go of Xavier and was still trying to cling to him.
Valentina finished her kiwi, and Aveline took her to brush her teeth. After that, she let her watch cartoons for half an hour before taking her for a bath.
After the bath, once the food in her stomach had digested, Aveline told Valentina it was time for bed.
Aveline sat against the headboard, staying with the little girl, who fell asleep very easily.
Aveline wasn’t sleepy yet, so she quietly stepped out of the bedroom and went into the study.
Her phone buzzed with a message from Fiona, [Come to the bar.]
Aveline replied, [I’m with Valentina, I can’t make it.]
[Why are you out drinking again?]
Fiona: [With a client. I won’t drink too much.]
[Why did Xavier dump Valentina on you again?]
[I can’t believe he’d let Valentina sleep in the studio.]
Aveline: [I moved to Parkview Estates today.]
Fiona: [Oh, that explains it.
Do you know where Xavier is right now?]
Aveline looked at the message and didn’t reply.
In the past, she would have wanted to know Xavier’s every move, but now she had no interest at all.
Josephine called him, and he left. Of course he’s with Josephine.
Fiona: [He’s at the bar, with Josephine.]
[He dumps the little girl on you while he’s out having a good time.]
