Charles quickly asked, “So you mean we should be on Sir’s side?”

Helena glared at her. “You must respect both the master and the madam.”

With that, Helena ignored her and went back to the kitchen to work.

Charles watched Helena’s retreating back, thought for a moment, and went upstairs.

Aveline changed into some loungewear. When she came out of the master bedroom, she saw Charles standing in the hallway.

Charles said, “Ma’am…”

Seeing that she seemed to have something to say, Aveline asked, “What is it?”

Aveline gave this Charles a deep look.

She understood what Charles meant by “very different tone.” It meant different from the tone Xavier used with her.

Xavier wasn’t gentle with her, but he was gentle with another woman. She was implying that Xavier had another

woman on the side.
