Chapter 119
Helena wasn’t finished. She added, “By the way, missus, this afternoon a lady who also lives in Parkview Estates brought over some traditional health tonics and fruit. She said it was her child who caused your injury, so she bought these gifts to apologize.”
Aveline was taken aback and asked, “How did she know I live here?”
Helena replied, “She recognized the master and asked around.”
Aveline quickly asked, “Then does she know I’m Xavier’s wife?”
Helena shook her head. “She did ask about your identity, but without the master’s or your permission, I naturally wouldn’t tell her.”
Aveline breathed a sigh of relief and said, “You did the right thing. In the future, if anyone asks about my relationship with Xavier, just say you can’t speak about your employer’s affairs.”
Helena nodded and agreed.
Aveline looked towards Charles. Charles understood what she meant and also quickly agreed.
After finishing dinner, Aveline went to the living room to watch TV while eating her after–dinner fruit.
While bringing the fruit, Charles avoided Helena, took out her phone, and sent a message to Lauren, telling her about Aveline’s instruction to hide her relationship with Xavier.
Lauren replied: [What does she mean by that?]
Charles: [Mrs. Beltran, I don’t know either.]
Lauren: [Something’s not right with her. Keep a close eye on her for me.]
Charles: [Yes, Mrs. Beltran.]
Xavier didn’t come home that night. Of course, Aveline had locked the door and gone to sleep, so she didn’t know for sure if he’d come back, but she didn’t see him on her morning run and figured he hadn’t.
For the next few days, Xavier didn’t return to Parkview Estates. Aveline wasn’t surprised, nor did she care. Sebastian approved the design plan and said they could go to Mount Ardwood next Monday to get started. Aveline, Jasmine, and Julian were busy preparing to start work, so they had no time to think about Xavier. Around nine o’clock on Friday night, Fiona called Aveline to a bar, saying Sebastian was in Entora. Aveline knew she’d be drinking, so she didn’t drive and took a cab.

When she got out of the cab, she saw Xavier and Josephine getting out of a black Bentley in the bar’s parking lot.
Aveline felt Xavier glance at her left hand, as if intentionally yet unintentionally.
Seeing him do that, Aveline scoffed inwardly.
Her hand had already scabbed over and didn’t need a bandage anymore. Xavier should be relieved now that he’s seen
She walked coolly into the bar, not looking at them.
Behind her, Josephine suddenly said, “Sister, I heard your hand was injured. Is it better now?”
Aveline pretended not to hear and entered the bar.
Xavier really tells Josephine everything, doesn’t he? He must have told her a lot about me over the past two years they’ve been together.
Maybe the two of them even make fun of me behind my back.
Laughing at how stupid I am, how infatuated I am, how I overestimate myself, how I’m a love–struck fool.
The bar had just hired a talented singer, so Fiona and Sebastian didn’t get a private dining room, sitting in a booth in the main hall to listen to the music.
Seeing Aveline arrive, Fiona scooted over. Aveline sat down, and Sebastian picked up the wine bottle to pour her some red wine.
Aveline glanced at Sebastian. Because he was wearing a blue sweater today, he looked even more refined and young in the dim yellow light.
Fiona smiled and said, “My brother looks young today, doesn’t he?”
Aveline smiled, “Mr. Harmon has always been young and handsome.”
Just then, a tall figure loomed over them, and Xavier’s deep voice said, “Mr. Harmon, good evening.”
She didn’t know when he had walked over.
Aveline didn’t look up at him.
