Or did someone tell you something?”
Valentina replied, “I heard Mom and Dad say that Aveline wants to divorce you. I wasn’t eavesdropping, I just hap- pened to overhear.”
Xavier smiled. “Then I’ll have to have a good talk with your mom and dad, to tell them to talk further away from you from now on, so you don’t accidentally overhear again.”
Valentina pouted. “Uncle, don’t change the subject. You still haven’t said if Aveline is going to divorce you.”
Xavier smiled again. “You even know what ‘changing the subject‘ means?”
“Aveline taught me. If someone feels guilty and doesn’t want to answer my question, they’ll talk about something else to distract me.”
Xavier laughed. “Your aunt is just mad at your uncle, that’s all. Besides, your great–grandfather wouldn’t agree to your uncle and aunt getting a divorce, so you can’t say that anymore.”
Valentina said seriously, “I don’t agree with you and Aveline getting a divorce either. Otherwise, I won’t have a beau- tiful aunt anymore.”
“And Uncle, if you get a divorce, you won’t have a beautiful wife anymore.”
Xavier felt there was no need to continue the topic of divorce with a child. He said, “Alright, now you should decide if you want to go see the cherry blossoms or not.”
Valentina sighed. “I guess I’ll go with you, then.”
Collin and Paulina always took an hour–long afternoon nap. After they woke up, Aveline walked with them in the back garden, then had tea and snacks in the garden pavilion.
Aveline’s phone buzzed. It was a picture of cherry blossoms from Xavier.
Aveline glanced at it with a cold expression. Just as she was about to put her phone down, another message came in.
Aveline, the cherry blossoms are so pretty.
Only then did Aveline realize it was Valentina who had sent it using Xavier’s phone.
She replied: Yes, they’re very pretty.
Valentina: It would be great if you were here too.
Aveline: “I’m with my maternal grandparents.”

Chapter 133
Valentina sent another photo, a picture of her and Xavier.
Xavier was smiling, Valentina was laughing happily. A handsome uncle and a cute niece.
Aveline thought for a moment, then replied, “Valentina is so cute.”
“What about Valentina’s uncle?”
Seeing the message, Aveline’s eyes narrowed, wondering if Valentina or Xavier had sent it.
It had to be Xavier. If it were Valentina, she would have asked, “What about my uncle?”
Aveline pretended she didn’t know it was Xavier and replied, “He’s ugly.”
In the park, Valentina saw Aveline’s reply on her phone and immediately said to Xavier,
“Uncle, Auntie says you’re ugly.”
Xavier had never in his life been called ugly, and Aveline was the last person who would ever say it.
Because Aveline always said he was handsome, her eyes sparkling.

Xavier was stunned for a moment, then chuckled. “You little rascal, that lie is like a balloon. It’ll pop with a single
23 poke.”
“Your aunt would never say your uncle is ugly.”
Valentina held the phone screen up to Xavier. “Auntie said it.
Uncle, you can’t say I’m lying.”
Xavier glanced at the phone screen and smiled. “Your aunt is just joking with you.‘”
Valentina pouted dismissively and tried to take the phone back, but Xavier took it from her.
“Uncle has something to say to your aunt.”
Then Xavier texted Aveline, “I’ll pick you and your maternal grandparents up around six. I’ve already booked a pri- vate dining room.”
“And don’t make those kinds of jokes with a kid. She’ll take it seriously.”
Aveline read the message and sneered silently.
If Valentina had any judgment, and if she took it seriously, then in her eyes, her uncle would be ugly.
