Chapter 148

The aunt: “Oh my, I never would have thought she was that kind of person.
Then she’s not right for our Xavier.
I heard from Zoe that she asked for a divorce in front of the Patriarch a few days ago?”
Lauren snorted, “She’s just putting on an act. She’d never let go of our Xavier.”
“But she…”
Aunt quickly asked, “But she what?”
“Forget it, let’s not talk about it.
She must love our Xavier. No one is better than our Xavier.”
A cold smile touched Aveline’s lips. Just as she was about to walk over, she heard Aunt say:
“About Aveline saving Xavier, I’ve always wanted to ask you…”
Aveline couldn’t help but stop in her tracks.
She heard Aunt say, “Was it really Aveline who saved Xavier?”
Aveline frowned slightly.
Could Aunt really be doubting that she was the one who saved Xavier?
Lauren replied, “What do you mean? How could that be fake?”
Aunt chuckled. “I just think it’s too much of a coincidence. Aveline likes our Xavier so much, always chasing after him, and then she ends up being the one to save him. Of course Xavier would have to repay a life debt with mar- riage.”
Then she added, “Xavier was unconscious at the time. He never saw who saved him with his own eyes.”
Lauren replied, “Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit strange when you think about it.”
Aveline scoffed inwardly and walked over with a cold expression.
When Lauren and Aunt saw her, they jumped in shock, both staring at her with wide eyes.
Lauren got angry when she saw Aveline walk past as if she hadn’t seen them, without even a greeting.
“Are you blind? Not even a word.”

Chapter 148
Aveline stopped, turned to face Lauren and Aunt, and said coldly, “If you doubt I was the one who saved Xavier, then hurry up and tell him to divorce me. I never expected him to repay a life debt with marriage.”
After speaking, she continued on her way.
Lauren and Aunt looked at each other, speechless.
Aunt gave an awkward laugh. “To think she was hiding there, eavesdropping on us.”
Lauren glanced at Aveline’s retreating figure and frowned. “If you’re saying it wasn’t Aveline who saved Xavier, then who could it be?”
Aunt asked, “What did the Fortune Teller say back then?”
Lauren frowned, recalling. “The Fortune Teller said our Xavier would face a disaster, but that a Guardian Angel in his life would help him through it. After Aveline saved Xavier, I went to see the Fortune Teller. He only asked for Ave- line’s last name and then said it was her.”
Aunt chuckled. “She’s not the only person in the world with the last name Sutton.”
Lauren was stunned.
When Aveline returned from the restroom and entered the hospital room, she saw Lauren staring at her with a burn- ing, obviously scrutinizing gaze.
Aunt smiled. “There’s a restroom in the room, why did you go outside?”
Aveline replied flatly, “To get some fresh air.”
Leona immediately snorted, “Fresh air?
Is it suffocating in here for you?”
Aveline didn’t even look at Leona. Seeing Xavier come out of the bedroom, she said, “I have to be at the construction site at two–thirty. I need to go.”
Rupert spoke up, “Then Aveline, you should get going.
We’ll have dinner together tonight.”
Aveline wanted to refuse, but after a glance at Rupert’s sincere face, she had no choice but to nod.
Xavier offered to walk Aveline out. She said he didn’t have to, but he followed her out anyway.
