Chapter 154

Xavier had sent her a text half an hour ago, [What time tomorrow?]
Aveline replied with one word, [Fuck off.]
Then, she put down her phone, grabbed her laptop, opened it, and started thinking about the small problem she had encountered at the construction site that afternoon.
But Aveline couldn’t focus. Her hand unconsciously went to her abdomen.
She should buy a pregnancy test to check.
Her stomach still felt a little upset, or maybe it was a digestive issue.
Aveline put her laptop and phone on the nightstand, turned off the light, and went to sleep.
The next morning, Aveline went downstairs for breakfast with Jasmine and Julian.
It was a buffet. Aveline was getting food with her plate when she smelled a familiar, disgusting perfume.
It was a perfume Josephine loved to wear.
Aveline saw Josephine out of the corner of her eye, walking up to her left, also holding a plate to get food.
Aveline ignored her and put some bacon on her plate.
Josephine picked up another pair of tongs for the bacon and said, “Aveline, are you really pregnant?
You’re lying, right?”
Aveline’s expression turned cold. She didn’t say anything or look at her, just turned and walked away.
Xavier actually told Josephine about this? Ha, no way. Isn’t he afraid she’d get mad?
But Josephine followed Aveline to the beverage table.
Aveline got milk, Josephine got coffee, her mouth not stopping for a second. “If you were really pregnant, you would’ve said so long ago. You wouldn’t have waited until now. You regret telling Rupert you wanted a divorce, don’t you? You realized that even when you threatened divorce, Xav didn’t take you seriously, so you lied about being pregnant, right?”
Aveline turned to glare at Josephine and said coldly, “Josephine, you’re sick. Go see a psychiatrist.‘
After saying that, she turned and walked away.
་་
From behind her, Josephine said, “Clinging to a man who doesn’t love you. You’re so pathetic.”

Chapter 154
Aveline didn’t bother with her again, not talking back.
Josephine was sick, but she wasn’t. She wasn’t going to argue with a sick person in public.

Walking back to her table, Aveline saw that besides Jasmine and Julian, Xavier was also sitting there.
Aveline’s face went cold again. She walked over to Jasmine, put down her plate, and stared coldly at Xavier.
Xavier took a sip of coffee, glanced up at her, and smiled faintly. “Why the long face so early in the morning? Still grumpy from waking up?”
Jasmine said irritably, “He insisted on sitting here. Why don’t we move to another table?”
Julian also had a grim expression but didn’t say anything.
In fact, the restaurant was full, with no empty tables. If the three of them left, they’d have to share a table with some- one else.
Aveline sat down, her voice cold. “If that woman comes over, don’t blame me for embarrassing you in public.”
Xavier looked at her. “What woman?”
He was playing dumb, and Aveline couldn’t be bothered to call him out. She stopped talking and ate her breakfast.
Sure enough, Josephine walked over, stood next to Xavier, and said, “Xav, sis, can I sit here? There are no other seats.”
Xavier looked up at Josephine. “You’re still here?”
Then he glanced at Aveline, seemed to think of something, and smiled.
Aveline glared at him, as if to say, “What are you smiling at?”
Xavier waved over a waiter and said, “Find a seat for Ms. Sutton.”
Taking instructions from the group’s president, the waiter respectfully agreed and led Josephine away.
Aveline looked down and ate, a sneer playing on her lips.
So Xavier was afraid of being embarrassed in public after all.
