Aveline’s expression turned cold. “What else did he say?”
“He said you almost caused Courtney to have a miscarriage. He’s been calling and texting you, but you won’t respond, so he wanted to get your grandparents to make you go and apologize to Courtney.”
“You didn’t tell my grandparents, did you?”
“No, I didn’t.”
“That’s good.
Go and stress to the building security again that they are absolutely not to let Jacob into the complex. Tell them he made more threatening calls today. For their safety, the gate security needs to be on high alert.”
“Okay, I’ll go right now.”
Aveline hung up and considered whether to call or text Jacob to warn him, but then she just laughed scornfully.
If Jacob had any conscience, he wouldn’t have called to harass two old people today. A warning would be useless. There were no strong men at her grandparents‘ house. Maybe she should hire a driver for them.
So Aveline texted Fiona, [I want to hire a strong driver for my grandparents. Do you have any recommendations?]
look.] Fiona replied a short while later: [Okay, I’ll help you
[I’ll ask my brother. His recommendations are usually reliable.]
Aveline felt a little awkward about bothering Sebastian, but she knew Fiona would insist on helping anyway, and re- fusing would just make her seem difficult.
[As long as it’s not too much trouble for your brother.]
Fiona: [How could it be trouble? Besides, my brother would definitely be happy to help you.]
A little after five in the afternoon, Helena sent Aveline a text: [Ma’am, Sir is here. He’s waiting for you at the hotel.]
Aveline ignored it.
The site was busy today, so Aveline, Jasmine, and Julian returned to the hotel an hour later than usual. They planned to freshen up in their rooms before getting dinner.
When they got to their floor, the door to the room across from Aveline’s was wide open. Seeing that she was back, Xavier stepped out of it.
“It’s already seven. Are you avoiding me on purpose?”

Aveline coldly turned, opened her door, and as she went inside to close it, Xavier blocked it with one hand and tried
to enter.
Aveline said coldly, “I’m not going to the hospital with you. Leave.”
The two of them faced off, one inside and one outside, each pushing against the door with one hand.
Xavier said calmly, “Let me come in and talk.”
“Not a chance.”
Xavier gave a hard push, forcing Aveline back. The door swung open, and he stepped inside.
Jasmine and Julian saw it all happen. Just as Jasmine was about to curse him out, Julian had already walked up to Aveline’s door with a grim expression.
“Xavier, you’re going too far. Aveline told you to leave, and you still forced your way in.”
Xavier leaned one hand on the door, his dark eyes looking coldly at Julian. “I’m her husband. You’re just her senior from school. What gives you the right to question me?”
After saying that, he shut the door.
He even locked it, as if he was afraid Julian would try to barge in.
Xavier turned to face Aveline.
Aveline glared at him with a frosty expression, not saying a word.
She wanted to see what he was going to say to her after going through all this trouble. Could he really say something amazing?
“You’ve been making that face a lot lately. You never used to be like this. It’s not a good look on you.”
Aveline said coldly, “You brought this on yourself.”
Xavier smiled nonchalantly, walked further in, and sat on the armchair, resting his arms on the armrests and looking up slightly at Aveline.
