Fiona said, “I’ll get the door and bring the food in, but I’m still not letting Xavier in.”

Aveline nodded.

So, Fiona went to the door and opened it halfway. “Helena, just give me the food. You can go back now.”

Helena was taken aback and looked back at Xavier.

Xavier smiled. “Give it to her. I’ll go eat in the cafeteria.”

Helena had no choice but to give the food container to Fiona, who took it, immediately shut the door, and locked it.

“Eat in the cafeteria, my ass. Hmph, he was probably hoping you wouldn’t let him in so he could go have lunch with Josephine.”

Aveline’s expression was calm as she walked over to the coffee table, sat down, and had lunch with Fiona.

After lunch, Aveline went into the bathroom to freshen up. When she saw the toothbrush and remembered Xavier had used it, she came out and pressed the call button to ask a nurse to bring a few more toothbrushes.

Fiona thought she was getting one for her and said, “You don’t have to. I have my own floss and a small toothbrush with me.”

Aveline said calmly, “There’s only one toothbrush in the bathroom, and Xavier has used it.”

Hearing this, Fiona thought about what Xavier had said earlier and said scornfully, “Xavier’s got some nerve. He has no feelings for you, but he can still share a toothbrush and cup with you.”

Fiona and Aveline looked at each other. “I’ll go to the hotel with him.”

Aveline nodded. “Okay, Fiona. Thanks for doing this.”

Aveline gave him a cold look and said nothing.

Xavier’s expression was calm, unfazed by her coldness. He turned and left.

Fiona scoffed again, “Putting on an act.”

And she left too.

After that, Aveline felt uneasy.

Because Xavier had acted so calm, so indifferent, so confident, she couldn’t help but suspect he’d already instructed the hotel staff to do something.

After lunch, Aveline felt bloated, but she wasn’t nauseous, so she wasn’t too worried.

She lay in bed, rubbing her stomach, wondering if she should call Fiona and ask.

But then she figured that since Fiona hadn’t called, everything must be fine.
