Chapter 183
Aveline knew Xavier had a point and she couldn’t argue, but she was still annoyed and said coldly:
“Xavier, you broke your promise. Gerald still hasn’t drafted that new divorce agreement. If you can’t produce it by to- morrow, don’t blame me for not saving your face in front of your grandfather.”
Xavier’s dark eyes stared at her intently. “Is it fun to always bring up divorce?
Do you really want a divorce, or are you trying to do something else?”
Fiona answered for Aveline, “She just can’t stand the sight of you.”
Xavier laughed. “If she can’t stand the sight of me, then who can she stand?”
Fiona glanced at Aveline, saw her cold expression and silence, and spoke for her, “Any man around Aveline is more pleasant to look at than you.
I think my cousin is better than you. And he happens to be single. Once Aveline is divorced, I could totally set them up.”
Aveline didn’t expect Fiona to suddenly bring up Sebastian. She glanced at her, but then figured Fiona was probably joking, so she just smiled, not taking it seriously.
After all, Sebastian was the only one whose family background and wealth could rival Xavier’s, so of course Fiona would choose him to provoke Xavier.
Aveline shifted her gaze and saw Xavier staring at her, his dark eyes cold and focused. He seemed angry.
Aveline gave a scornful smile and looked away.
Yes, for a man, he can be ambiguous and romantic with other women, but when it comes to his own wife, even a joke from someone else is unacceptable. It would damage his male pride.
When Xavier saw Aveline smile, his dark eyes grew even colder.
Fiona noticed and teased him, “What’s wrong, Mr. Beltran? Your wife divorced you, so why should you care what she does with other men? What’s with that look on your face?”
Xavier laughed, “Sebastian?
Fiona, you’re reading too much into it. Don’t be ridiculous.”
Just then, Josephine’s voice came from outside the room, “Darling, can you come out for a second?”
“I have something important to tell you. My sister doesn’t want me in there, so I don’t dare go
in.”

Chapter 183
Aveline’s expression was cold, and she said nothing.
But Fiona cursed, “Damn it, what a pain.”
Xavier got up and walked out.
Fiona’s temper flared. “Xavier, you bastard, hurry up and get the agreement ready. Stop being so disgusting.”
Xavier left without looking back or making a sound.

Fiona said to Aveline, annoyed, “Being a lawyer and knowing the law isn’t always a good thing. You know hitting someone is illegal, so you have to hold back.”
Aveline said calmly, “I’m not a lawyer, but I also know it’s illegal to hit someone.”
Otherwise, she would have already slapped Josephine a few times and kicked Xavier.
“Close the door for me.”
Fiona’s eyes lit up. “Right, close the door. Don’t let him back in.”
Saying that, she hurried to close the door.
That was indeed what Aveline meant.
Xavier wanted to stay with her in the room, so he could just stay outside; it would be more convenient for Josephine to find him.
A few minutes later, Xavier tried to open the door from the outside, but it wouldn’t open.
But he didn’t make a sound. There was just silence.
Fiona chuckled. “At least he’s smart enough not to get mad.”
Aveline gave a faint smile and said nothing, picking up her phone to call Miranda.
After learning her maternal grandparents were fine, Aveline asked Miranda to hand the phone to her grandmother to talk for a bit.
Of course, Aveline didn’t let her grandparents know she was in the hospital. She just said she was busy at Mount Ard- wood and would visit them when she had time.
After the call, Aveline and Fiona were chatting. As they talked, noon arrived, and they heard Helena’s voice from out- side the door.
