Chapter 188
Xavier gave her an indifferent glance without a word and walked over to the sofa to sit down.
Helena set out the food. For dinner, she had made white rice with Steamed Sea Bass with Ginger & Scallion, stewed lamb, and stir–fried greens, because Aveline didn’t want to cat rice congee anymore.
Aveline and Xavier ate in silence. She ignored him whenever he tried to speak. When he was quiet, she was more than happy with the peace.
She was almost finished eating. Xavier had already finished. He put down his fork, picked up the tea Helena had pre- pared, and watched her with his dark, placid eyes as he drank.
Aveline thought he was crazy. She put down her fork and stopped eating. “Helena, you can clear the table.”
Xavier said calmly, “There are only two bites left. Why not finish it? When did you develop such a bad habit?”
Aveline stood up and looked at him coldly. “Xavier, you keep pretending to care about me. Even if you’re not sick of it, I am. We’re about to get a divorce, aren’t you tired of this?”
Helena, who was clearing the dishes, heard this and almost dropped the bowl in her hands.
They were already at the point of getting a divorce?
She quickened her pace, wanting to leave as soon as possible.
Xavier looked up at Aveline, his dark eyes deep. “I’m not pretending.”
A sneer touched the corner of Aveline’s mouth.
Xavier stared at her. “You think I don’t care about you, and that’s why you keep bringing up divorce?”
Aveline said mockingly, “You don’t know? Then just never know. Who cares.”
With that, she turned and went to the bathroom to wash up.
Behind her, Xavier said coolly, “Did you see the photos and the report?”
Aveline stopped but didn’t turn around. “What photos?”
Did Josephine post another picture of him and her online?
Xavier replied, “If you don’t know, then forget it. It’s already been taken care of.”
Aveline gave a silent, cold laugh and walked into the bathroom.
When she came out of the bathroom, Helena was gone, and Xavier was still sitting on the sofa, texting someone on his phone.

Chapter 188
Aveline walked to the side of the bed and sat down. The phone on the nightstand began to ring.
It was a call from Sebastian. She quickly answered, “Sebastian.”
Xavier’s gaze lifted from his phone screen, his dark eyes as deep as a pool, watching Aveline.

Aveline noticed Xavier staring at her from the corner of her eye. She stood up with a cold expression and walked out to the balcony to talk.
Sebastian said, “Aveline, have you had dinner yet?”
Aveline replied, “Mhm, I just finished.”
“How are you feeling? Still dizzy?”
“Not anymore. I can be discharged tomorrow.”
Sebastian quickly said, “Don’t be in a hurry to leave the hospital. Jasmine and Julian are watching over the construc- tion site, so it’s fine.
Come back to work after you’ve fully recovered.”
“I’m not calling to rush you back to work. There’s something I wanted to tell you.”
Aveline was confused. “Okay, what is it?”
“The media took a picture of us while we were running. It was posted online today with some random stuff written about it. It’s just a shot from the back, they didn’t get your face, but I still wanted to let you know. I hope you don’t mind.”
Aveline froze, remembering what Xavier had just asked her.
So that’s what Xavier was asking about.
She replied to Sebastian, “I don’t mind. We were just running, it’s not like we were doing anything wrong.”
Sebastian chuckled, “That’s good.
You don’t really have to pay attention to news like this, it’ll blow over quickly.”
“Yeah, I know. I don’t mind, I’m just worried it might affect you negatively.”
