Valentina chimed in, “I miss Aveline.”
Brielle patted her head. “I’m just worried your aunt is busy with work and doesn’t want us to bother her.”
“Then Uncle should call Auntie and ask if she’d welcome me over.”
Xavier replied, “You call her. If I call, your aunt won’t pick up.”
Rupert, who was drinking tea, looked up at the sound of this and gave him a deep look. “Why isn’t Aveline answering your calls? What did you do to make her angry this time?”
Xavier laughed. “I can’t figure it out either. You’ll have to ask her yourself.”
Valentina snuggled up to Rupert and said, “Great–grandpa, Auntie really doesn’t answer Uncle’s calls, because Uncle often breaks his promises.”
Hearing this, Rupert glared at Xavier. “Even a child knows you’re in the wrong.”
Xavier just smiled nonchalantly and picked up his phone. “Alright, Uncle will call your aunt for you.”
Aveline was just about to leave for the construction site when she saw a call from Xavier. She didn’t answer, tossed the phone into her purse, and walked out the door.
Jasmine and Julian were waiting for her outside. Julian glanced curiously at her purse,
“Your phone was ringing.”
Aveline said coolly, “Just ignore it.”
Jasmine scoffed, “It’s Xavier again, isn’t it?
It’s so funny. Ever since you decided to divorce him, he’s been calling you all the time. I’ve never seen him do that be- fore.”
Julian glanced at Aveline, not feeling it was his place to comment.
The three of them walked into the elevator, and Aveline said flatly, “I’m not interested in what he’s thinking right now.”
Jasmine said sarcastically, “What could he be thinking? He’s just upset that your world doesn’t revolve around him anymore, and he can’t handle it.”
Aveline remained silent, her expression indifferent.
Julian glanced at her and couldn’t help but ask, “Haven’t the divorce papers been drawn up yet?”

Aveline frowned slightly. “I’ll probably have to sue for divorce, but Fiona is busy with Eileen’s case right now.”
“I’ll talk to Fiona later and see if she can handle both cases, maybe get another lawyer from the firm to help.”
“As long as I can get the divorce, I don’t care how much it costs.”

At the Beltran’s mansion, Xavier saw that Aveline wasn’t answering his call, so he hung up. “Valentina, your aunt re- ally isn’t picking up my phone.”
Valentina frowned. “Uncle, you broke your promise again, so Auntie is mad at you again.”
Xavier laughed. “I really didn’t.
Your aunt is just being difficult.”
Valentina didn’t believe him. She thought her beautiful aunt was so good–tempered, how could she be difficult? She huffed and turned her face away.
“Then I’ll call Auntie myself. She’ll definitely answer my call.”
“Oh, I didn’t bring my phone, Mom.”
Xavier said, “You can use my phone to text your aunt.”
Valentina nodded, took Xavier’s phone, and sent a text to Aveline.
[Auntie, I heard
you hit your head. Mom and I want to come see you, is that okay?]
Aveline heard the notification sound from the phone in her purse and guessed it was from Xavier, so she didn’t look.
Valentina waited for a while, but there was no reply. She looked at Xavier. “Uncle, I used your phone to text Auntie, and she’s not replying either.”
Rupert, who was about to sip his tea, paused. “Aveline didn’t block your number, did she?”
Xavier laughed. “What are you thinking? If she blocked me, the call wouldn’t have gone through.
She’ll reply in a bit.”
