Chapter 221
“A minute ago, I went back to my car to grab a bottle of water. Josephine and Eileen came out and happened to be standing right next to my car. They didn’t see me and started talking in hushed voices.”
“They were actually arguing. Eileen was telling Josephine she had to get her brother out, but Josephine said Mr. Bel- tran wouldn’t help, so her hands were tied.”
“Then Eileen threatened Josephine. She said if Josephine didn’t help, she’d tell Mr. Beltran that Josephine was the one who told her to trip Aveline.”
“So, Fiona, you see? This secret’s worth something, right?”
Fiona’s expression turned serious. “Yeah. If I hadn’t already heard it from Josephine herself, it would be very valu- able.”
“What? Josephine already told you?
Did she also tell you that she gave Eileen 150,000 dollars?”
Fiona smiled. “So she was paid to do it.
For 150,000 dollars, Eileen would stoop that low. She’s pathetic.”
Then she looked at Katie seriously. “Did you record it?”
Katie looked embarrassed. “I never thought they’d discuss their criminal activities in the police precinct’s parking lot, so I didn’t record the part where Eileen said Josephine put her up to it. I only got the part where Josephine said Eileen took 150,000 dollars from her.”
As she spoke, she took the spy pen recorder out of her bag and handed it to Fiona.
Fiona frowned. “I heard from Aveline that Josephine and Courtney often give money to Eileen and Vincent. This recording isn’t very useful.”
“But let’s hold on to it for now. It might be useful later.”
Then, Fiona texted Aveline about it and sent her the recording as well.
Sitting in her car, Aveline listened to the recording and let out a cold laugh. She wasn’t surprised at all that Eileen would hurt her for money.
Devin Sutton’s side of the family were all money–grubbing types. They only cared about money, not family. They had no conscience and no respect for the law.
When she reached the gate of Parkview Estates, Aveline got out of her car and only then realized Xavier’s car had been following her and had also come back here.

Chapter 221
She shot him a cold glance, ignoring him as she walked straight in.
Helena heard the noise and opened the wooden door to greet them.

She thought Aveline and Xavier had returned together, so she asked, “Ma’am, have you and Sir had dinner? Should I make something for you?”
As she spoke, she saw Aveline’s injured arm. “Oh, Ma’am, you’re hurt,” she said in shock.
Aveline walked up the steps and into the house, saying flatly, “I’m fine. You don’t need to make anything.”
Helena said okay, then greeted Xavier. “Sir.”
Xavier nodded, went inside, and followed Aveline upstairs.
At the door to the master bedroom, he said, “You obviously wouldn’t want me to help you bathe, so have Helena do it. That way you won’t get your arm wet.”
Aveline had planned to ignore him and go into the bedroom, but seeing him being so fake again, she turned to face him.
Xavier was surprised. He smiled, “What, you want me to help you bathe?”
Aveline’s expression was cold as she took her phone out of her bag. “I’m being nice, so listen to this.”
With that, she played the recording Fiona had sent her.
First came Josie’s voice, annoyed even though she was trying to keep it down. “Eileen, what the hell is wrong with you? Shut your mouth.”
Eileen scoffed. “You know how to shut me up. Save my brother. He only provoked Aveline because he was helping you.”
Josie: “Vincent was helping you. If he wanted to help me, I’d have to be the one paying him.”
Eileen: “Hmph, why would my brother help me? It’s because of you that Aveline sued me.”
Josie: “Weren’t you happy enough when you asked me for 150,000 dollars?
What, you already spent it all?”
