Chapter 223
I didn’t tell the old master and madam, but Jacob made such a scene that a lot of people know now. He was shouting that you’re heartless and cruel, that you’ve harmed your own cousins.”
“I’m afraid the old master and madam will hear people in the community gossiping when they go for a walk.”
Aveline frowned, thought for a moment, and said to Miranda, “If you hear anyone gossiping, please persuade them to stop. Collin has high blood pressure, he won’t be able to take it if he hears.”
“If my maternal grandparents do hear something, you can say that Jacob was deliberately causing trouble, trying to force me to hand over my mom’s paintings.”
Miranda replied, “Okay, I’ll do my best to reassure the old master and madam.”
“But, Aveline, is what Jacob said true? Did you have a conflict with Eileen and Vincent?”
Aveline said lightly, “I’ll tell you the details some other day. It’s not easy to explain over the phone.”
“Okay, then you should be careful. I suspect Jacob will go to Parkview Estates to find you.”
After hanging up, Aveline got out of bed to wash up.
She came out of the bathroom and was applying skincare products when someone knocked on her bedroom door.
“Ma’am, are you awake?
Someone from the Sutton family is here.”
Aveline’s expression turned cold, and she sneered silently.
Just as she expected, they’ve come here to cause trouble.
Aveline quickly finished with her face, grabbed a long cardigan from the walk–in closet to wear over her pajamas, and then went to open the door.
Helena stood outside the door, looking anxious. When she saw Aveline open the door, she immediately said:
“Ma’am, the two Sutton men don’t look right. I think, I think they’re very angry.”
Aveline said calmly, “Okay, it’s nothing. I’m going down now.”
As she spoke, she couldn’t help but glance at the bedroom next door.
Helena noticed and said, “He went out for a run and isn’t back yet.”
Aveline said nothing and went downstairs.

In the living room, Devin’s voice was loud as he kicked at the tables and chairs, “Why isn’t she down here yet?
Damn it, if she doesn’t come down, we’ll go up and find her.”
Josephine said, “Uncle, calm down. You heard the help just now, Xav is here too. He just went out for a run, and we don’t know when he might suddenly come back.”
Devin yelled, “Then Eileen, you go watch the main gate. Let us know when you see Mr. Beltran returning.”
“If Aveline doesn’t release my son, I’ll kill her right here today.”
Aveline stood on the stairs and asked Helena in a cold voice, “How did they get into the complex?”
Security at the gate isn’t supposed to let outsiders in without a resident’s permission.
Helena shook her head. “I have no idea.”
Aveline heard Devin continuing to shout insults downstairs and asked Helena, “Do we have a spy pen recorder in the house?”
Helena shook her head. “I don’t have one. In his study… I don’t think there’s one there either.”
Aveline understood what Helena meant. After the villa was renovated, Xavier had only come to take a look; he hadn’t moved any of his things in.
His study didn’t even have a single book.
Aveline glanced at her phone.
