Urging Him to Get a Divorce novel Chapter 27

Chapter 27

He was not in the company during working hours. Instead, he accompanied Josephine home to get a script. That was really thoughtfulof him.

Aveline had been with Xavier for years, but she rarely bothered him during his working hours. She would only ask his company when it was something important, but he always said he was not available. Aveline knew clearly that it was not because he was not available, but because he didn’t want to spend time with her.

Jasmine said to Aveline, I told you this because I didn’t want you to hear it somewhere else unprepared.

Aveline nodded. I understand.

Josephine was about to graduate, and Xavier would definitely spare no effort to meet all her needs. No matter how much Xavier did for Josephine, Aveline wouldn’t be surprised.

Seeing that Aveline seemed not to care, Jasmine felt bad for her.

When Julian came, the two of them had already begun to work. When Julian put down his bag and sat down, he took a glance at Aveline.

Aveline happened to look up, wanting to ask if Julian needed some coffee. And he saw Julian’s somewhat weird gaze.

What’s up, Julian?

Julian shook his head. Nothing.

Aveline felt that he must have something to say, but it wasn’t something good, so he decided not to say it.

And Aveline didn’t ask. She poured him some coffee and then continued working on her draft.

After a while, her phone rang. But she was focusing on her work and ignored it.

Jasmine took a glance at her and murmured, Huh? It’s Bernard.

Hearing this, Julian suddenly raised his head and looked at Aveline, his expression complicated.

Bernard Clarke was an outstanding alumnus of Entora University, majoring in architecture. He graduated ten years ahead of Aveline, and now he was a renowned architect both domestically and internationally.

Aveline admired Bernard’s talent. Through Julian’s introduction, she was honored to have had two meals with Bernard and exchanged phone numbers and WhatsApp numbers.

He suddenly called Aveline, and Aveline thought it should be something important.

Aveline picked up the phone. Hello, Bernard.

Well, Aveline, hi. Hope I’m not bothering.

Aveline shook her head. No. What’s up?

Here’s the thing. A project worth five to six billion dollars approached me to work as an architectural designer, but I’m currently having another project abroad and don’t have the time and energy to take on two. Last night, I had din- ner with Julian and heard that you have opened a studio. I think you’re capable of handling that project with your abil- ities, and I would like to recommend you to them. However, Julian said that you are currently preparing for the Crest- mark Group’s project.

But I think the Crestmark Group’s project is also a domestic one, and you’re only responsible for landscape design. In that case, you should be able to work on two projects at the same time. The project I’m recommending is a good one, and it’ll greatly enhance your name and renown in the industry.

Hearing this, Aveline couldn’t help but look at Julian, not understanding why Julian rejected that project.

She asked, Bernard, what’s that project?

Bernard answered, It’s Mount Ardwood Theme Park, led by the Beltran Group.

Upon hearing this, Aveline understood why Julian turned it down.

Julian was afraid that she might feel uncomfortable having a project that was related to Xavier. He even thought that she wouldn’t take this project because of Xavier.

Bernard didn’t know about her relationship with Xavier, so he also didn’t know that what Julian said was just an ex- cuse to turn that project down.

But Aveline thought that turning down such a big and profitable project was idiotic.

Besides, since she chose to work in this industry, it was inevitable to meet the Beltran Group as their client. If they re- fused, they would miss out on many good opportunities to make money.

She was well aware that the design fee provided by the Beltran Group was about 10% of the total project cost, and maybe even higher, depending on the specific situation.

After thinking so, she asked, Bernard, do we need to bid?

Bernard replied, No. They came to me directly. I told them that I wasn’t available, and they said I could recommend others and let me be the consultant.

Got it. Bernard, I’m more than happy to take on this project. Thank you for your recognition and recommendation.

Good. Then I’ll talk to them, and let’s meet another day to have a detailed discussion about it.

After Aveline hung up the phone, Jasmine immediately walked up and asked with excitement, Bernard has recom- mended a project to us?
