Chapter 301
Xavier remembered how resistant Aveline had just been to the idea of a therapist, so he replied to the Patriarch.
“A marriage counselor”
The Patriarch started yelling, “You useless brat! You can’t even handle your own wife, and now you need a marriage counselor?”
Xavier said calmly. “It takes time. It’s not something that can be fixed in one or two tries.”
“It wasn’t even this much trouble when I had to win over your grandmother.”
After saying that, the Patriarch hung up.
In the hotel, Fiona sent a message to Aveline, asking how her talk with Xavier went and if he had agreed to the divorce.
Aveline replied with one line: [It’s complicated.]
Fiona immediately ran over to her room to find her.
“Impossible? He said a divorce is impossible?”
Fiona found it hard to believe.
“No, I mean… I thought he was worried about his family’s Patriarch, or about how much of the assets to give you. Why is he so adamant about not getting a divorce?”
“What’s he after?”
Aveline smiled and gave Fiona a meaningful look. “He can’t possibly marry Josephine.”
Fiona froze for a second, then it clicked. “The daughter of a mistress. She’s not presentable.
But you…”
Fiona looked Aveline up and down, smiling. “You saved his life. You’re his Guardian Angel, the daughter of the famous painter Bethany. And even though your father’s company isn’t as big as the, you’re still an heiress, raised in luxury.”

“And now that he’s discovered you’re also a talented architect, he has even more to be proud of.
“No wonder my brother admires Xavier’s intelligence, saying he’s impressive and not to be underestimated. He plays his cards so well, of course he’s impressive.”
When Aveline heard Fiona mention the word ‘savior,‘ she frowned slightly. Thinking about how Xavier accused her of refusing to admit it, a scornful smile touched her lips.
Xavier felt she had deceived him, so she was supposed to quietly play the part of Mrs. Beltran because of this baseless lie.
To continue being sweet and docile, not to argue or cause trouble, and certainly not to demand a divorce.
If she insisted on a divorce, would Xavier threaten her with this baseless lie?
At that thought, the scornful smile on Aveline’s lips deepened.
She suddenly wanted to see how Xavier would react the day he found out he had misunderstood
her.
Aveline said to Fiona, “Even if Collin goes to talk to his grandfather, it probably won’t work. You should go get the security footage.”
Fiona nodded, “Okay, no problem.
If Xavier refuses to hand it over, I’ll go to the Beltran Hotel and curse him out for being a two- faced hypocrite.”
Aveline looked at Fiona, thinking to herself that knowing her personality, she would actually do it.
“You’re a high–powered lawyer; you don’t have to make such a scene.
Fiona reached out and gently pinched Aveline’s cheek. “You, being so polite all the time, you’re just going to get pushed around.”
Aveline just smiled faintly without a word.
In the afternoon, Sebastian was definitely going to the construction site to check on the project, and Fiona, bored of being alone in the hotel, tagged along.
At the site, Fiona was busy taking pictures.
That evening, the group went to the Mount.
