Urging Him to Get a Divorce novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35

She didn’t know when he had arrived, but standing here, he could definitely hear the conversation in the bathroom.

Aveline glanced at his deep, dark eyes, as calm as an old well, and continued leading Valentina towards the bedroom.

Valentina said, Uncle, why are you standing here?

Xavier gave a faint Mmhmmand didn’t say anything.

Aveline wondered why he wasn’t with Josephine. What was he doing at the bathroom door? Was he afraid she’d bad- mouth him to his niece?

Inside the bedroom, after changing Valentina into her pajamas, Aveline said, Valentina, you should go to sleep now. Your aunt has to go.

Valentina stood on the bed and wrapped her arms around Aveline’s neck. Aunt, do you have to go? I want to sleep with you. You smell so nice and are so soft. I love it.

Aveline was very touched and couldn’t help but kiss Valentina’s forehead. Good girl, lie down and sleep.

Valentina had no choice but to pout and crawl under the covers.

Aveline tucked her in, said Good night, then turned off the main light, left a small lamp on, and finally walked out of the bedroom.

Xavier was still standing in the hallway. Under the dim yellow light, his dark eyes were deep and heavy.

Aveline looked away coldly and walked towards the living room.

Behind her, Xavier followed, asking softly, Leaving?

Aveline didn’t answer him, her steps not faltering.

The living room was empty. It seemed Josephine had already left, which explained why he was bored enough to hang around outside the bathroom door.

After all, with Valentina staying the night, Josephine had to leave.

But Josephine was just across the hall. Xavier could go see her anytime he wanted; it was very convenient.

Aveline picked up her leather bag from the sofa and walked towards the main door.

Xavier stood in the middle of the living room, watching her back. “Why are you leaving so late? What’s the big deal about staying one night? It’ll save you from Valentina asking about you when she wakes up tomorrow.

Aveline walked to the foyer to put on her shoes, saying coldly, When do you have time? Let’s go take care of

Xavier cut her off. I’ve already asked Gerald Henderson to draft a new agreement. Once he’s done, he’ll send it to Fiona Harmon to show you.

Aveline finished putting on her shoes, turned around, and looked at him with a cold gaze. There’s no need for that. The original agreement is fine. I just want to get this over with quickly.

Xavier smiled. “Is that so?

Let’s just draft a new one. I can’t be unfair to you.

Aveline didn’t know if his smile was meant to mock her. She gave a silent, cold laugh. You’ve got plenty of money. Give it if you want. Do whatever you want.

After speaking, she turned, opened the door, and walked out, closing it behind her without a moment’s hesitation.

As soon as she turned, she saw Josephine standing in front of the door to the apartment across the hall, staring at her with a cold, sinister gaze.

Aveline didn’t even have to guess. Josephine was worried she would stay the night, so she was waiting here to see if she would come out.

Josephine didn’t come over to provoke her, but her gaze was murderous as she watched her get into the elevator.

On the drive back to her studio, Aveline thought that she could never go back to Winslow Heights again. There was no need to go there just to see Josephine’s cold face.

If Valentina wanted to see her, she could come to her studio.
