ng, Valentina.”
Aveline could tell Valentina was video calling her from the dining room. She was holding a glass of milk.
“Auntie, did you just wake up? Haven’t you had breakfast yet?”
Aveline hummed in agreement. “Yes.”
Immediately after, she heard Josephine’s voice, “darling, this croissant is delicious. Do you want to try some? I’ll give you half.”
Xavier replied to her, “No, thanks.”
Aveline knew Josephine was doing it on purpose again.
Because Xavier always ate a Chinese–style breakfast: Fried Dough Sticks, Steamed Buns, Savory Crepes, pasta, milk, eggs, oatmeal, or Meat Congee. He only ate savory food, not sweet.
Aveline pretended she hadn’t heard and asked, “Valentina, did you need something?”
“Auntie Aveline, Uncle is taking me to the amusement park and then for a BBQ. Will you come with us?”
Aveline couldn’t possibly go; if she went, she’d just be a third wheel to Xavier and Josephine.
“I’m sorry, Valentina, Auntie is busy with something and can’t go.
“But it’s the weekend.”
“Yeah, Auntie can do her work on the weekend.”
“Auntie, are you going to be designing something?”
“Mmm–hmm, yes.”
Just then, Josephine spoke up, “Sister, are you refusing to go just because you don’t want me and Xav to be together? If that’s the case, then I won’t go. You go with Valentina, don’t disappoint her.”
Aveline pretended not to hear and said, “Valentina, I’m hanging up now. Have fun.”
Valentina looked disappointed, but still nodded obediently, “Goodbye, Aveline.”
She had just hung up the video call when Xavier sent a message, [Josephine isn’t planning on coming with us. You should come over, or I’ll come get you.]
Xavier’s second message was: [Send me the address.]

Aveline ignored him, put down her phone, and went to wash up.
Since she didn’t reply, Xavier probably figured out her stance and didn’t contact her again.
The truth was, he didn’t want her to go with them anyway; he was just putting on a show so Valentina would know it was her who didn’t want to go, not his fault.
In the evening, Fiona called Aveline. “My brother is in Entora. Let’s have dinner together tonight.”
Aveline agreed.
Fiona asked again, “Have you finished the preliminary design drawings?”
“They’re done.”
“Then bring them for my brother to see.”
Aveline was of course very happy to. It was a good chance to understand Sebastian Harmon’s thoughts, and if he had any objections, she could make improvements.
She had heard Fiona mention that Sebastian graduated from a prestigious overseas university with a degree in archi- tecture, so he was very professional in this area.
Fiona liked BBQ, and she knew Aveline did too, so the two of them agreed on a place. After hanging up, Aveline started organizing the design drawings.
When she drove to the BBQ restaurant, Aveline saw Sebastian’s Maybach pulling into a parking spot ahead. The se- curity guard at the entrance directed her into another spot.
After pulling into the spot, she saw a familiar black Bentley drive into another parking space in front of her.
Aveline paused, turned off the engine, grabbed her purse from the passenger seat, and got out of the car.
People got out of the black Bentley too: Xavier, Josephine, and Valentina.
Valentina called out to her cheerfully, “Auntie, pretty Auntie.”
Valentina wanted to run to her, but Xavier caught her. “You can’t run around in the parking lot.”
Aveline smiled and nodded at Valentina.
Sebastian and Fiona walked over. Aveline quickly went to them. “Mr. Harmon.”
Fiona leaned close to Aveline and whispered, “Why are they here too?”
Aveline said flatly, “A coincidence.”
Xavier was only a few steps away, walking over with Josephine, holding Valentina’s hand.
