Hurry up and go shower.”
Aveline quickly went upstairs to shower.
When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Xavier, already showered and dressed in a black T–shirt and jeans, sit- ting on the sofa in her bedroom.
Aveline instinctively tightened her bathrobe and gave him a cold glance.
Xavier looked at her with his dark, calm eyes. “What’s the rush? I can’t see anything but your calves.”
“Besides, I don’t have amnesia. I know what your body looks like.”
Aveline said flatly, “What do you want now?”
“A gift I brought back for you from Singapore.”
As Xavier spoke, he gestured with his eyes toward the nightstand.
Aveline turned to look and saw two velvet boxes on the nightstand, one red and one blue.
The red one looked like the pair of earrings she had sent to Leona, and the blue one was probably what Xavier had just bought in Singapore.
Aveline laughed and turned to look at Xavier. “Buying a painting for Josephine and jewelry for me. It seems I’m just a shallow person in your eyes.”
Xavier gave her a deep look, took his wallet out of his pocket, and pulled out a card,
“I gave you a card when we got engaged. You could have spent as much as you wanted, but you chose not to. Is that my fault?”
“This is the one you left at Winslow Heights. From now on, buy any painting you want.”
Saying this, he stood up, walked over to Aveline, and handed her the unlimited credit card she had left behind when she moved out of Winslow Heights.
Aveline looked at him with a cold gaze. “We’re getting a divorce. I don’t need it.
Why didn’t I spend it? Obviously, I was afraid you’d think I schemed to marry you for your money.”
Xavier smiled and put the card on the nightstand.
“I bought this jewelry for you. If you don’t like it, just put it away. Don’t give it to anyone. You can save it for your future daughter or daughter–in–law.”

With that, he turned and walked out of Aveline’s bedroom.
He’s finally gone. Aveline quickly went over, closed the door, and locked it.
288 Vouchers
Walking back to the nightstand, she opened the boxes. Sure enough, the red box held the pair of earrings. It seemed he got them back from Leona.
The blue box contained a pearl ring with a sapphire that Aveline had seen while browsing jewelry designs, valued at twenty million and the only one in the world.
Because the pearl was of the highest quality, and the accompanying sapphire was too, it was highly collectible and would definitely appreciate in value over time.
Aveline glanced at them and tossed both boxes, along with the card, into the nightstand drawer.
If she cared about material possessions, she wouldn’t be getting a divorce. She would just let Xavier fool around, sleeping with this person, keeping that one as a mistress, and not feel any pain, as long as he gave her money to spend.
To her, no matter how rare or expensive the jewelry, it was nothing compared to a sincere heart.
Aveline went into the walk–in closet, changed into casual clothes, and then went downstairs for breakfast.
As she neared the top of the stairs, she heard Xavier say, “Collin, Paulina, I won’t agree to a divorce.”
Aveline stopped in her tracks.
Paulina sighed, “But Aveline has already filed with the court. She really wants a divorce. You can’t force happiness. Maybe you two should just get divorced.”
Xavier replied to her, “Aveline and I do have some problems, and I’m working on solving them now.”
