Seeing this, Aveline returned a polite smile.
Chapter 37
Xavier’s eyes narrowed slightly as he watched their interaction.
Josephine’s smile stiffened for a moment before she beamed again, saying, “My sister hasn’t done any design work since she graduated. It’s an honor for her that you think so highly of her, Mr. Harmon.
No wonder she didn’t want to come have BBQ with us when we asked.”
Fiona heard this and got pissed. She rolled her eyes and was about to speak, but Sebastian spoke first,
“Did you not know that the statue Isabella Sutton designed for the Entora city center garden last year won an interna- tional award early this year?”
Fiona chuckled lightly. “Brother, she’s still just a student. A student. She hasn’t been out in the real world yet, so there’s a lot she doesn’t know.”
She even emphasized “a student” twice. Josephine wasn’t stupid, so she naturally heard the mockery of her ignorance and immaturity.
Josephine’s face burned with anger, so hot she couldn’t even force a smile, making her expression a bit stiff.
She hadn’t expected Aveline to be quietly doing design work. Not only did the Sutton family not know, but even Xavier didn’t know.
She was sure Xavier must not have known, because when she was with him, she would occasionally bring up Ave- line, precisely to test if Xavier had any feelings for her.
Xavier had never told her that Aveline was doing design work.
Josephine looked at Xavier. “Darling, did you know my sister was doing design work?”
Xavier glanced at Aveline and said flatly, “I didn’t.”
Josephine smiled. “So you didn’t know either.”
Turning to Aveline, she said, “Sister, why were you so secretive, hiding it from all of us? It’s not like it’s something to be ashamed of.”
How could Aveline have possibly hidden it? She once wanted nothing more than to bare her soul to Xavier, for him to know everything about her.
Her greatest pride was her talent for architectural design; of course she wanted Xavier to know about this strength of hers.

But Xavier never entered her study, never cared what she was doing, which is why he knew nothing at all.
Aveline gave Josephine a cold glance, not intending to dignify her with a response.
“Sebastian, Fiona, let’s go inside.”
Then Aveline gestured for Valentina to go to Xavier.
Sebastian said, “Alright, let’s go in.”
He gave a slight nod to Xavier.
Xavier nodded back in response.
Valentina unhappily returned to Xavier’s side, took his hand, and watched Aveline’s back as she walked into the
restaurant.
“Uncle, Auntie Aveline was never this busy before. She even has to work on a weekend night.”
Xavier patted her head to comfort her, his expression indifferent.
Josephine’s eyes flickered. She smiled and took Xavier’s arm. “Darling, let’s go inside too.
Valentina, don’t be sad. You’ll feel better after you have some BBQ.”
“That’s the President and Chairman Beltran of Crestmark Group. Your dear auntie is busy cozying up to him. She doesn’t have time to eat BBQ with us.”
Valentina was confused and looked up at Xavier. “Uncle, what does ‘cozying up‘ mean?”
Josephine smiled without saying a word.
Xavier said flatly, “You’ll understand when you’re a little older.
Let’s go inside.”
Aveline, of course, didn’t know what Josephine had said behind her back. Once inside the private dining room, Fiona
leaned in and said to her:
“Just seeing those two ruins my mood.”
