Chapter 390
As the three of them were eating, at six–thirty, the butler entered the dining room. “I believe the Heiress is back.”
Since it was the weekend, the Patriarch and Lauren weren’t surprised. Lauren said, “Ask her and Mason if they’ve eat- en breakfast. If not, they can join us.”
Lauren assumed Leona was bringing her son to visit them.
Xavier said nothing, his expression cold as he picked up his glass of milk.
The butler left the dining room and was taken aback to see Leona walking in with a man.
He remembered Bryan; after all, Bryan had been the one driving when Xavier had his accident.
“Heiress, this is…”
Leona looked stern. “Where are the Patriarch and my mother?”
“They’re having breakfast. Xavier is there as well.”
Hearing that Xavier was also there, Leona froze, and Bryan, beside her, flinched.
“Heiress, I think…”
Leona snapped at Bryan, “Shut up! What are you afraid of? With the Patriarch here, what can Mr. Beltran do to you?”
“And I’m here too. You have to tell them everything in a moment.”
The butler sensed something was wrong and said, “Madam asked if you’ve had breakfast and if you’d like to join them.”
In fact, Leona hadn’t eaten breakfast yet; she had gone to Dylan’s house early in the morning to pick up Bryan.
“I’m done eating. Go tell Rupert I’ve brought someone over and have something important to tell him.”
The butler glanced at the cowering Bryan, then returned to the dining room.
He first glanced at the cold–faced Xavier, then said to Rupert:
“The Heiress has brought Bryan over. She says she has something important to tell you.”
Rupert wiped his mouth with his napkin, frowning slightly. The name sounded familiar.
“Bryan?
Who?”

Lauren, however, realized what was happening. She gasped and blurted out,
“What was Leona thinking, bringing him here without telling me first.”
Hearing this, Xavier shot a cold look at Lauren.

Lauren felt a pang of guilt and couldn’t meet his eyes. She said to Rupert, “Dad, it’s the driver who used to work for Xavier. The one from the accident.”
Rupert’s memory clicked into place, and his face darkened. “It’s him.
What did Leona bring him here for?”
He turned to Xavier. “What’s this about?”
Rupert assumed Xavier knew what was going on; after all, Bryan used to be his driver.
“Go out and see for yourself.”
Xavier said coolly, wiped his mouth with a napkin, tossed it on the table, and got up to leave the dining room.
In the living room, Leona and Bryan were sitting on the sofa. When they saw Xavier walk out of the dining room, his icy gaze swept over them, and both of their hearts skipped a beat.
Bryan stammered, “Mr., Mr. Beltran.”
Leona looked at Xavier with a determined expression, not saying a word.
Xavier didn’t say anything either, walking over to an armchair and sitting down.
Rupert and Lauren also came out of the dining room. The Patriarch sat in another armchair, and the butler brought a chair over for Lauren.
The moment Rupert saw Bryan, his expression darkened. Even though it had been a few years, he recognized him.
“Leona, why did you bring him here?”
Leona pressed her lips together and glanced at Xavier, only to see him take the tea from the butler and sip it slowly with his eyes lowered.
It was as if he didn’t care at all what she and Bryan would say to the Patriarch.
Although Xavier was always yelling at her about helping Aveline hide the truth, he was probably secretly hoping the Patriarch would find out so he could get rid of Aveline.
