After getting the combination, he went back upstairs to the master bedroom’s walk–in closet and opened the safe.
Inside, there was only a set of pearl jewelry, the very one Aveline had worn on the night of the Patriarch’s birthday banquet.
The carrings and ring he had given her were nowhere to be seen.
Did she take them?
Xavier thought that was unlikely. He looked around the bedroom and opened the nightstand drawer.
Inside were two familiar velvet boxes and a card, the very things he had given her.
Xavier gave a self–deprecating smile. Not only had Aveline not taken them, but she also didn’t care enough to even put them in the safe.
Just leaving them in the nightstand drawer, not even worried about them being stolen.
Heh, she was probably only worried about her painting being stolen. She couldn’t care less about the things he gave her.
Xavier put the card in his wallet and the earrings and ring in the safe.
Then he sent a message to Aveline, “I put the things from the nightstand into the safe, just in case you thought they were stolen.”
Aveline looked at the message, thought for a moment, and only then remembered what was in the nightstand.
That guy. Not only did he enter her bedroom and sleep in her bed, but he also rummaged through her things.
Aveline didn’t want to reply to him, but she was annoyed, so she posted a complaint on her Social Feed.
“Looks like someone quit being a CEO and took up a new career in breaking and entering, ransacking the place.”

Chapter 187
Xavier wasn’t surprised that Aveline didn’t reply, nor did he expect her to post passive–aggressive sarcasm on her Social Feed twisting his actions, so naturally, he didn’t check his Social Feed
He went downstairs to eat breakfast
Any walked into the dining room “Mr. Beltran, Mr. Henderson went to the Granvia Restaurant to see last night’s security footage from the front desk. The manager didn’t let him, since he wasn’t dming there and the manager wasn’t sure what he was after.”
Xavier asked flatly. “The manager called you about it?”
“Yes The manager asked if it was related to the note your wife received last night.”
Just then. Xavier’s phone on the dining table rang. He looked at the screen; it was Gerald.
Xavier gave a cold, silent sneer. He knew why Gerald was calling and answered the phone.
Sure enough. Gerald sounded pissed. “Weren’t you supposed to have Amy send me a copy of the restaurant’s security footage? Where is it?”
“I went to the restaurant to see it myself, and the manager wouldn’t let me.”
Xavier replied coolly. “You’re a lawyer. Don’t you know you have no right to access security footage that doesn’t concern you?”
“Even if it did concern you, you’d have to go through law enforcement to
get it.

Gerald was furious. “Xavier, don’t play games with me right now.
If it were you, that manager would be kissing your ass and let you see whatever you wanted.”
Xavier asked him, “Does Josephine know you went to check the footage?”
“Hmph, since when do you care about Josie’s feelings?”
“I don’t care about her feelings at all. But if she knew you went to check the footage, she definitely wouldn’t be happy.”
“Gerald, you think she wrote that note too, don’t you? That’s why you went to see the footage, to confirm it.”
Gerald was still fuming. “I’m trying to prove that Josie didn’t write it.‘
“Then you’re going to be disappointed.
Just wait. I’ll have the manager show you.”
