Xavier said coldly, “I said so much last night. You didn’t hear a single word, did you?”
“Don’t you dare criticize my wife in front of me. Last night I kicked the coffee table. Next time, I’ll kick you.”
“Now get out of my house.”
Gerald shot Xavier an angry glare and walked out with a stiff face.
Xavier suddenly thought of something and asked him, “That house in Winslow Heights, did you transfer the title to Josephine?”
Gerald stopped, turned back to look at him, and snapped, “What, you regret it?”
Xavier said coolly, “If you haven’t transferred it yet, then don’t.”
Gerald found this unbelievable and strode back. “Xavier, don’t go too far. How can you have the nerve to take back something you’ve already given away?”
“So, has it been transferred or not?”
Gerald demanded, “The jewelry you gave Josie, and that billion you invested in the movie, are you going to take those back too?”
Xavier gave him a cold look and said nothing.
Gerald was furious. “Stand up.”
Xavier had no idea what he was up to, but he stood up anyway.
Gerald walked over to him and threw a punch at Xavier.
Xavier’s eyes narrowed. He caught Gerald’s fist with one hand, then slid his grip to his wrist and twisted.
Gerald was in agony, but he gritted his teeth and glared at Xavier with dark, resentful eyes.
Ever since the incident, Xavier had developed sharp reflexes for incoming attacks and would instinctively fight back.

He could take Aveline’s punches and kicks, not dodging or fighting back, but he would never let anyone else do it
He let go and said coldly, “I know you like Josephine, but she and her mother are bad news. You’d better stay away from her.”
Gerald, blinded by rage, couldn’t hear a word. He thought Xavier was just bad–mouthing Josephine because he wanted to dump her, which made him even angrier.
He rubbed the wrist Xavier had twisted, shot him a vicious glare, and left.
Xavier sat down, silent for a long moment, then let out a soft sigh.
Gerald would only believe what kind of person Josephine really was when he saw it for himself.
Back then, if he hadn’t loved Aveline so much, he might have fallen for Josephine’s trap, never gotten engaged to Aveline, and certainly never gotten their marriage certificate.
Looking back now, he was glad he’d never considered breaking up with Aveline. Even though Josephine’s scheme had made him miserable, he had still gotten engaged to Aveline and they had gotten their marriage certificate.
Xavier picked up his phone and texted Aveline, [I’m stuck with you for life, you know that?]
Aveline was in her study, examining the concept art she’d been working on on a large screen. Hearing the text alert, she casually picked up her phone.
Then she replied with a blank face: [If you’re crazy, go bang your head against a wall.]
Staring at her reply for a moment, Xavier let out a soft, self–deprecating laugh.
[It’s boring at home this weekend. Simon said the concept art is almost done, send it over for me to see.]
Aveline ignored him.
Xavier sighed and contacted Simon to send it over.
Simon replied, [Mr. Beltran, the construction plans aren’t finalized yet.]
Simon was actually thinking, you’re an engaged couple, why don’t you communicate with each other instead of bothering me on the weekend?
Xavier: [That’s fine, send it over for me to see.]
So Simon had no choice but to send it.

Xavier went upstairs to Aveline’s study and tried to use her computer, but he didn’t know the password.
So he texted Aveline, I need to use your computer, what’s the password?]
Aveline didn’t reply.
