Chapter 521
The next morning, Aveline was woken up by the sound of a door opening. She thought it was Helena, so she didn’t open her eyes.
She hadn’t gotten enough sleep, and her alarm hadn’t gone off, so even though she wondered why Helena was here so early, she went back to sleep.
She fell back asleep. She didn’t know how much time had passed before her alarm went off. She reached for the nightstand to turn it off, but then she heard the sound of it being pressed, and it stopped.
Aveline thought Helena might have turned off the alarm, but then she heard Xavier’s deep voice,
“You’re awake.”
Aveline’s eyes flew open. She turned her head and saw Xavier sitting on the sofa next to the nightstand, watching her. His dark eyes were deep, and she had no idea how long he’d been sitting there.
“How did you get in?”
As she spoke, Aveline propped herself up on the bed to sit up.
Xavier hurried over to support her, smiling as he said, “I came in through the door.
Aveline’s throat was a bit dry. She coughed twice and said coldly, “What do you want, disturbing my sleep this early in the morning?”
Seeing her cough, Xavier turned to pour her some water. “Something came up at the company, so I have to head back to the city. As for Dylan’s situation, Simon and Rebecca will continue to investigate. They’re taking Simon’s computer for fingerprinting today.”
“No matter what the results are, I’ll have Dylan removed from the project team, so don’t worry.”
With that, he walked over and handed the water to Aveline.
Aveline couldn’t be bothered to fight with him. She took the glass, gulped down more than half of it, and then placed it on the nightstand.
“You should go. Have Helena leave too. I don’t need her to take care of me anymore. Leave the key card.”

Hearing this, Xavier laughed. “Are you taking it out on her because she gave me the key card to get in?”
“I’m her boss. Could she have said no to me?”
“Once your foot is healed, she can go back to the city.”
Aveline’s face was cold, and she said nothing.
Xavier sat on the bed, wanting to hug her, but Aveline immediately shot him a cold glare. “Stay away from me.”
Resigned, Xavier got up. “I’m leaving.”
After saying that, he really did turn and leave.
Hearing the door close, Aveline threw back the covers and glanced at her left ankle. She saw the swelling was completely gone, but it was still a little tender to the touch. It wasn’t fully healed yet.
She sighed, wishing it would heal faster. Xavier was driving her crazy.
Just then, her phone rang. She picked it up and saw a message from Fiona.
【darling, are you up? good morning.】
【The court issued a summons for Josephine today. The show’s about to start.】
Aveline knew it was about Eileen’s case and replied: 【Okay.】
[Any news on the divorce case?】
Fiona: [Sigh, the court says it’s being scheduled. There’s nothing I can do.】
[We just filed it. If I push too often, they’ll get annoyed. It’s not like you’re just trying to get half of Xavier’s fortune, right? Let’s take our time and fight for the biggest possible settlement.】
Aveline replied to her, 【Okay, I’ll give you plenty of time to prepare.】
Xavier gave a few instructions to Simon and Rebecca, then took the elevator downstairs.
When he reached the first–floor lobby, he ran into Dylan, who walked up to him and said, “Mr. Beltran, I was really framed. If my concept art wasn’t good, I can redo it.”
“Or, I can just assist her with her work.
