Chapter 527
“But let me tell you, if I get kicked off the project team, my career in this industry is over.”
“Everyone I know in the industry–my old colleagues, classmates, mentors–they all know I landed this huge, high–profile project with the, and they all think I’m incredible. If I get kicked out, it’s a total disgrace, and I can’t afford to lose face like that.”
Josephine grew tired of his endless rambling. “I get it. I’ll do what I can to get you back on the project team. Just go back to the city for now.”
After hanging up, Josephine went to talk to her mom about it.
Courtney listened, thought for a moment, and then gave a sinister smile.
“Actually, if your cousin really can’t stay on the Mount Ardwood project, we could use this to ruin Aveline’s reputation in the architecture industry.”
Josephine knew her mom would have a plan, and she’d already figured out a way to deal with Aveline so quickly.
So she quickly asked, “Mom, how are we going to ruin Aveline’s reputation?”
Josephine thought about the international awards she’d found out Aveline had won, knowing she was already somewhat famous in the architecture industry at home and abroad, and now she was the lead architect for the’s multi–billion dollar project. She gritted her teeth in hatred.
She had originally thought that while she had become a famous director, Aveline would still be a nobody.
Courtney replied, “Don’t rush. When your cousin gets back, I have something to ask him. Once I have a clear picture, we’ll make our plan.”
“Call
your cousin. I need to talk to him. Before he leaves, he has to go make a scene in front of Aveline, so people don’t think he’s the one in the wrong.”
At dinnertime, Helena pushed Aveline into the bullet restaurant, then went to get food for her.
Jasmine and Julian went with her, leaving Aveline sitting alone at the table, waiting.
She took her phone out of her purse. Xavier had just sent her a message: [Starting dinner?]

[Simon told you, right? Dylan is leaving first thing tomorrow. He won’t be coming back to the project team, so you can work without worry.]
Aveline knew about this. When she was in the small conference room, Rebecca had come over and told her that Dylan was being very resistant and refused to pack his things, so two security guards had gone to the main conference room to pack for him.
Xavier’s last two messages were: [I’m busy these next few days, so I can’t go to Mount Ardwood to be with you.]
[Once your foot is healed, go check out the villa. If it doesn’t need redecorating, you can just move in. Living in a house is better than a hotel. Helena will stay there to take care of you.]
Aveline put down her phone and picked up her glass to drink some water.
An aggressive figure stormed up to her. She couldn’t help but look up and see Dylan glaring at her with a dark expression.
Aveline frowned slightly as she heard Dylan yell at her, “Aveline, you pulled this trick to kick me off the project team because you’re afraid my skills will outshine yours, aren’t you?”
“Are you that insecure?
On a project this big, for the good of the project, our team members should be helping each other. Everything should be about doing the project well, but you’re being selfish, afraid I’ll steal your thunder.”
“You and Simon set a trap to get rid of me, but that can’t cover up the fact that you’re incompetent and have no talent.”
“Aveline, I originally thought that since you were recommended by Bernard Clarke, you must be outstanding. I never expected you to be so petty and intolerant.”
“I despise you.”
Many people in the restaurant turned to look at them.
Dylan kept running his mouth, giving Aveline no room to speak, so she could only watch him coldly.
After he finished speaking, he turned to leave.
Just then, Jasmine, Julian, and Helena ran back over.
