Urging Him to Get a Divorce novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56

Aunt Aveline, Paulina said you’re Uncle’s wife, and you should go back to live at Winslow Heights and take care of Uncle.

Aveline’s hand, holding a piece of steak, paused. She looked up at Valentina. When did Paulina tell you that?

If it was recent, Lauren knew she and Xavier were getting a divorce. Why would she say something like that to Valentina?

Valentina replied, She just said it on WhatsApp.

But I already told Paulina that you work at the studio and can’t go back to Winslow Heights.

So it was just now. It seemed Lauren didn’t really want her and Xavier to divorce. She still saw her as Xavier’s Guardian Angel, hoping she would continue to selflessly take care of him.

Aveline said calmly, Mmm, Valentina is right. I have to work, so I’m not going back to Winslow Heights.

Valentina nodded, looking serious. Yep, work is very important. Mom says women should have their own jobs, earn lots of their own money, and not rely on men.

Aveline was taken aback. She never thought that Brielle, who seemed so gentle and demure, would know to teach Valentina to be independent and strong.

She smiled. That’s right. Your mom is absolutely right.

Xavier walked out of the airport terminal, got into a car, and said to the driver, To the Anmin Residential Communi- ty.

Then, he took his phone from his coat pocket, originally intending to call Aveline to ask if Valentina was asleep, be- cause if she was, he wouldn’t go pick her up and take her back to Winslow Heights.

He then remembered Aveline hadn’t answered his calls since moving out of Winslow Heights, so she probably would- n’t pick up this time either.

So he opened WhatsApp and decided to send a message.

Seeing the Family Group Chat seemed lively, he tapped into it. He saw what Lauren and Valentina were saying, and then how she and Leona went on to criticize Aveline. He closed his eyes in frustration.

Aveline was in this Family Group Chat too. Weren’t they afraid she’d see it and be upset?

He put his phone back in his pocket, deciding not to message Aveline after all. She probably wouldn’t reply even if he did.

In the studio, Aveline had given Valentina a bath. Seeing it was still early, she let Valentina watch some cartoons.

She also sat on the sofa and picked up a book to read.

She didn’t know if Xavier would come to pick up Valentina tonight, and she couldn’t be bothered to contact him and

ask.

It was almost nine o’clock and Xavier still hadn’t arrived. Aveline frowned. Just as she was about to tell Valentina to go to sleep, she heard the sound of someone punching in the code at the door.

Valentina looked up and said, Auntie, is Uncle here to pick me up?

Aveline stood up. Probably. Auntie will help you pack your things.

Xavier opened the door and came in, looking at Aveline’s expression as she packed Valentina’s clothes into a bag.

It was cold and indifferent. He couldn’t tell if she was angry about the messages in the Family Group Chat.

Valentina pouted at Xavier and said, Uncle, I don’t want to go back with you. I want to sleep with Auntie.

Xavier glanced at her, then looked at Aveline and said flatly, Then you have to ask your auntie.

Valentina also looked toward Aveline.

Aveline had already finished packing Valentina’s things. She said, Auntie is busy with work and doesn’t have time to take you to and from school. You should go back with your uncle.

Although Valentina thought her uncle was actually busier than her aunt, she knew that since her aunt said so, shouldn’t bother her.
