Chapter 560
“Although the report didn’t name anyone, everyone in the industry knows the lead architect for our project is Aveline.”
Xavier was wide awake now, sitting up with a cold expression. “Is this Dylan’s doing?”
Ryan replied, “Mr. Barron just called me. He suspects the same thing.”
Xavier asked, “Is it just one media outlet reporting it?”
“Yes, the other major mainstream media outlets wouldn’t dare report it without confirmation, but the smaller ones have surely followed suit.”
“Find that media outlet and ask who the source is. Have the PR department contact them.”
Ryan replied, “Mr. Beltran, that outlet happens to be one that’s on bad terms with the. I don’t know how Dylan managed to pinpoint that specific one.”
As soon as Xavier heard that, he knew someone was pulling the strings for Dylan; otherwise, it couldn’t be such a coincidence.
“Try to contact them first.”
“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”
After hanging up, Xavier checked the time. It was nine in the morning. He didn’t know if Aveline was awake yet.
He didn’t want to wake her with a call, so he sent her a text: [Aveline, contact me when you wake up. It’s important.]
[Dylan has caused some trouble, and it involves you.]
Then he got out of bed and went to wash up.
Coming out of the bathroom, he picked up his phone from the nightstand. Aveline hadn’t replied. He didn’t know if she was ignoring him as usual, or if she just wasn’t awake yet.
Xavier went downstairs with his phone to have breakfast. Rupert was in the living room, sitting on the sofa and reading the newspaper. Lauren wasn’t there.

Seeing him come downstairs, Rupert said, “You went to bed so late last night. Why didn’t you sleep in a little longer?”
Xavier walked over to the sofa and sat down. He figured that if the matter with Dylan was deliberately stirred up by someone, it would definitely blow up. The Patriarch would find out sooner or later, so he told him about it.
Rupert put down his newspaper, his expression hardening slightly. “Without any evidence, you kicked him off the project team that quickly?”
Xavier replied, “The design was obviously a copy of Aveline’s. Simon is a professional, and he thought so too.”
Rupert said in a deep voice, “Simon only knows how to run projects, not how to run a business. Don’t you know that?”
“Let me ask you, if Dylan hadn’t stolen Aveline’s design concept, if the lead architect was someone else and he had stolen that person’s idea, would you have handled it the same way?”
Xavier paused for a moment, then replied, “No, I’ll let him hang for a while, then find a more suitable reason to fire him.”
Rupert sighed, “You’re letting your emotions get the best of you.”
“Or was it Aveline who got angry and told you to get rid of him right away?”
Xavier said, “It was my decision.”
“Aveline, like Simon, only understands architectural design. She doesn’t get business management or public opinion. You should have a proper talk with her. She’ll understand.”
Xavier remained silent, shouldering the responsibility alone.
Rupert looked at him, remembering how Xavier had still gotten engaged and obtained a marriage certificate with Aveline, even when he mistakenly thought she had deceived him. It was clear his feelings for her ran deep.
Dylan stole Aveline’s design concepts, so of course he was furious. He acted rashly, or perhaps he did think it through but still kicked the man out immediately.
Rupert said, “What a coincidence. It just happens to be a media outlet that’s hostile to the?”
Xavier replied, “Someone is likely pulling the strings from behind the scenes.”
