Josephine’s fists tightened under the table, but her face still held a pained smile. “Daniel, you have medicine here?”

Daniel said, “Ah,” then, “Not at the restaurant, but I have some at home. I got confused for a moment.”

Josephine understood then that Daniel was targeting her.

She looked toward Aveline, wanting to glare at her, but of course, she couldn’t do it in front of so many people. She could only suppress her anger and resentment.

She figured Fiona must have said something to Daniel, which was why Daniel was so unfriendly to her when they had just met.

She said to Aveline, “Sister, I remember you always carry essential oils in your bag. Let me use some.”

Aveline did have a habit of carrying essential oils with her, using them to refresh herself when she wasn’t feeling well.

But there was no way she would let Josephine use her essential oils.

Aveline looked at Josephine, her tone cold. “I don’t have any.”

Hearing this, Josephine immediately turned to Xavier with a wronged expression. Anyone could see she was accusing Aveline of lying and just being unwilling to share.

The waiter brought in some warm water, and Xavier took it, placing it in front of Josephine. “Drink some water, you should feel better.”

Josephine let out a faint “mm,” picked up the cup, and began to drink slowly.

Daniel told the waiter to give a menu to Xavier, took another one herself, and handed it to Aveline. “I knew you guys were coming, so I already ordered a few of the house specials. Go ahead and pick a few more dishes.”

Aveline politely declined, “It’s my first time here, I don’t know what to order. Let Mr. Harmon decide, I’m not picky at all.”

Josephine put down her cup and asked, “Daniel, do you have any Plain Rice Porridge?”

Daniel chuckled softly, “Yes, of course we do. Looking at you, it seems like Plain Rice Porridge is all you’ll be hav- ing tonight.”

Aveline pressed her lips together, holding back a laugh.

Josephine clenched her fists again, but she couldn’t get angry at Daniel, so she lowered her eyes, looking wronged.

Daniel instructed a waiter to have the kitchen prepare a pot of Plain Rice Porridge.

Aveline looked up and met Xavier’s dark, cool eyes. He seemed displeased that she was holding back a laugh.

She coolly looked away and picked up her tea to drink.

Aveline politely declined, “No, thank you. I have to drive.”

Jessica smiled, “Aveline, drink if you want. I can drive for you.”

Josephine put down her water glass and smiled, “Sister, you’re such a good drinker. You should drink with Mr. Har- mon. Anyway, if you get drunk, Xavier and I can take you home.
