After saying that, she glanced at Aveline, who was driving. “Ms. Sutton, you have such a great personality.”

Aveline smiled. “Thank you.”

She had just humiliated Josephine to her face, yet Jessica still thought she had a great personality. It seemed Jessica hated the other woman, too.

In the black Bentley, Josephine said in an aggrieved tone, “How could my sister say something like that in front of strangers? It makes me so sad. I truly see her as my own sister, and my mom has always treated her like her own daughter.”

Xavier said flatly, “She’s been in a bad mood lately.”

Josephine looked at him and asked tentatively, “Is the agreement finalized? I heard from Leona that you’re giving a lot of money to my sister, and Leona and Lauren are very unhappy about it.”

Xavier said, “Don’t listen to my older sister’s nonsense.”

Seeing that Xavier didn’t intend to say more, Josephine didn’t dare to press further, afraid he would get angry if she

asked too much.

Although Xavier had never been angry with her, she didn’t want to give him the impression that she was being nosy.

Sebastian’s older sister, Daniel, ran a private dining club that catered to regulars, located almost in the suburbs.

After parking, Aveline and Jessica got out of the car. Sebastian, Xavier, and Josephine were already out of theirs and waiting by the entrance.

Aveline walked over to stand with Sebastian, and they went into the restaurant together.

In her peripheral vision, she saw Xavier glance at her briefly, but he quickly looked away as Josephine spoke to him. He turned toward Josephine to listen, and the two of them looked like they were sharing secrets.

Daniel happened to be at the restaurant and, knowing they were coming, was waiting in the lobby. She came forward to greet them,

“Mr. Beltran, welcome, welcome.”

She didn’t know Aveline was coming and didn’t recognize her. Seeing this beautiful and elegant woman standing next to her younger brother, she couldn’t help but look her over.

Then her gaze shifted to Josephine, who was pressed close to Xavier, and she wondered: is this the female director Xavier is backing, or is she his fiancée?

When Sebastian made the introductions, Daniel could barely keep a straight face.

She gave Sebastian a meaningful look, as if to say, “What the hell are you playing at, bringing these three to my restaurant to eat together?”

Daniel didn’t like the other woman, so she walked over to Aveline to get friendly. “Aveline, my little brother has been praising you to the skies. I’ve been wanting to meet you. I didn’t expect you to be not only talented but also so beauti- ful.”

Daniel’s enthusiasm caught Aveline by surprise. She was taken aback for a moment, then gave an embarrassed smile and glanced at Sebastian.

“You’re flattering me, Sebastian.”

A dark look flashed across Josephine’s face, who was next to Xavier. She moved closer to Xavier and took his arm.

Xavier turned to look at her.

She gave a pained smile and said, “I think I’m a little carsick.

Darling, can we walk a little faster? I want to sit down and rest.”

Hearing this, Xavier quickened his pace, so he and Josephine walked ahead.

Aveline, Sebastian, and Daniel were behind, just watching Xavier and Josephine walk ahead, arm in arm.

Daniel couldn’t take it anymore. She leaned close to Aveline and whispered, “How can you stand that?”

Aveline saw that Daniel, like Fiona, had a straightforward personality and liked her for it. She smiled faintly, “We’ve already broken up. There’s nothing to stand.”

Daniel shook her head in exasperation. “If it were me, I’d go over and kick them.”

Sebastian said in a helpless tone, “Sis…”
