Over the next three days, Gloria called the brothers Jacob and Devin several more times, but they didn’t pick up. It was the same with Vincent and Eileen. She even called Courtney and Josephine, but they didn’t answer either.
Gloria’s heart grew cold. She knew they were determined to leave her here with Aveline.
However, Gloria had been staying and eating at the hotel for the past three days and found it quite comfortable. She hadn’t seen a single trace of the alcoholic, so her fear had lessened.
It was Friday, and Aveline hadn’t planned on returning to the city, but since she had to take Gloria back, she decided to go anyway.
As usual, Rebecca received a message from Xavier, asking if Aveline was returning to the city. She replied:
[Aveline wasn’t planning on going back, but she has to take her grandmother back to the city.]
Xavier was surprised. [Why is Gloria at Mount Ardwood? Did Aveline bring her over?]
Rebecca: [Aveline’s father brought her. Aveline was very unhappy about it, but the old woman is refusing to leave, and her father won’t come pick her up.]
[I didn’t ask Aveline directly, but I overheard her talking to David in the conference room. It seems like the old woman came here deliberately to cause trouble for Aveline, trying to get her to agree to something.]
Xavier asked: [Where is Aveline now?]
Rebecca: [Aveline went back to her room to pack. We’re leaving around four.]
Xavier figured that Jacob was trying to force Aveline to do something again, and she must have refused. So, he sent Gloria to pester Aveline and give her no peace.
So Xavier called Aveline.
Aveline didn’t answer, but he wasn’t surprised. He sent a text: [I heard Jacob sent the old lady to bother you?]
Aveline had already packed her bags by then, standing at the door of Gloria’s room, waiting for the old hag to slowly come out.

Seeing the message, she ignored it and just called into the room, “If you don’t come out now, I’m leaving. You can take a car back to the city yourself.”
Gloria shouted from inside the room, “I’m old and my hands and feet aren’t what they used to be. You won’t even come in to help me, and now you’re complaining I’m slow.”
Didn’t Aveline know this difficult old woman? When she needed to run, she was faster than anyone. Even though she was old, she was still in good shape.
Ever since her mother married into the Sutton family, Gloria hadn’t had a hard day in her life. Her mother handled everything at home.
Otherwise, her mother wouldn’t have gotten sick from exhaustion.
Thinking of this, Aveline felt resentful and said, “I’m not waiting for this old hag anymore. Jasmine, Julian, let’s go. She can wait for her son to pick her up.”
After saying that, Aveline gave Jasmine and Julian a look and walked towards the elevator.
Gloria was actually sitting in the living room of her suite, slowly sipping a glass of water. Hearing they were going back to the city today, she had packed her clothes in her suitcase long ago.
Hearing what Aveline said, she was so scared she quickly put down her glass, stood up, and started pushing her suitcase out the door.
“You damn girl, if you dare leave me here, I’ll….. I’ll just die right here for you to see.”
Aveline deliberately walked very fast and quickly reached the elevator.
Jasmine and Julian exchanged a look. Although they followed her, Julian asked worriedly, “Aveline, are we really leaving the old lady behind?”
Aveline replied, “Look, isn’t that old lady running over now?”
