Aveline replied, “I went with Jasmine and Julian. If you don’t believe me, ask them.”
Jasmine immediately chimed in, “Yes, ma’am. Last month, the three of us heard there was a very skilled Fortune Teller on Mount Ardwood. Everyone said he was very accurate, so we went to see him. Oh my god, he really was.”
As she spoke, she nudged Julian.
Julian, helpless, could only nod.
Gloria was a bit more convinced. “How was he accurate?”
Just then, the elevator doors opened. Aveline walked in, saying, “The Fortune Teller said Jasmine’s sister would have a son, and she really did have a son.”
Gloria quickly followed her into the elevator. “That Fortune Teller can even do predicting the baby’s gender?”
The moment Aveline heard that, she knew the old lady wanted the Fortune Teller for predicting the baby’s gender for Courtney. But Courtney had already found out from a check–up that she was having a boy. The old lady still wanted a reading. It seemed she really trusted the Fortune Teller more than medicine.
So Aveline said, “Forget it, Gloria. I’m not telling you where that fortune teller is.”
“Because all I want is to jinx you and Jacob to death.”
Gloria shivered.
“You wretched girl, are you even human?”
As she spoke, Gloria raised her hand to hit Aveline.
Aveline moved fast, grabbing Gloria’s hand. “I already told you I’d jinx you,” she said coldly, “How dare you still try to hit me?”
She gave her hand a slight twist, and Gloria cried out in pain.
Aveline let go. “Stay away from me,” she said coldly.

Gloria quickly backed into a corner of the elevator, trying to stay as far away from Aveline as possible.
But Gloria’s eyes were filled with resentment as she glared at Aveline.
Aveline could see Gloria staring at her through the elevator doors, but she didn’t care.
When they reached the ground floor, Aveline and Jasmine stepped out of the elevator first. Julian couldn’t bear it and helped Gloria with her luggage.
Gloria muttered, “Hmph, you’re a stranger, and you treat me better than my own granddaughter.”
Julian said coolly, “She’s not nice to you because you’re not nice to her.”
Gloria huffed again but didn’t say anything else.
Once in the car, Jasmine drove while Aveline sat in the passenger seat, leaving Gloria to sit alone in the back.
The old woman was displeased again. “Aveline, come sit in the back. I don’t want to ride alone.”
Aveline said flatly, “I jinx you. It’s already not safe for you to be in the same car with me. You still want me to sit in the back with you? Are you sure?”
Gloria was frightened. “Then… then I’ll ride in Julian’s car.”
Of course, Aveline wasn’t about to let her bother Julian, so she told Jasmine to lock the car doors quickly.
“Sit tight. Don’t mess with the door, or you might get thrown right out.”
“I said, I want to ride in Julian’s car.”
Aveline ignored her and gestured for Jasmine to drive.
Gloria reached out to slap Aveline, but then she remembered the jinx. Her hand froze in mid–air before she lowered it.
She didn’t know whether to believe Aveline. Part of her suspected Aveline was lying, but another part felt it was true.
Gloria thought to herself that once she was back in the city, she had to find a Fortune Teller to
ask about it.
Since Aveline hadn’t replied in a while, Xavier sent another message, [Why did Jacob send the old woman to bother you?]
