Leona also sat down, frowning. “Mom, Xavier won’t listen. What should we do? How can we give Aveline so much money?”

Lauren snorted, “If your brother won’t listen, then I’ll talk to Aveline. If she dares to sign that agreement, I’ll grant her what she told your grandfather last night and let them get a divorce.”

Leona’s eyes flickered. She moved closer to Lauren. “Mom, actually, I think we should just let them get divorced. It would be for the best. Xavier doesn’t like Aveline anyway.”

Lauren shook her head. “Your grandfather won’t agree.”

She wanted to call Aveline, but then remembered Aveline hadn’t been answering her calls lately, so she had to text

Just then, Xavier came out in his loungewear to get a glass of water. Lauren rushed over to him.

“Look at this! Aveline actually blocked me.”

Xavier frowned slightly. “She hasn’t unblocked you yet?”

Lauren stared. “What do you mean? You knew she blocked me?”

Xavier sighed helplessly. “I know. I’ll talk to her when I see her.”

“Mom, Leona, you should go home. I’m going to sleep.”

After saying that, he took his glass of water and went back to his bedroom.

Lauren was so angry she pointed at Xavier’s back, then turned to Leona, needing comfort from her eldest daughter.

Leona came over and took her arm. “Mom, let’s go home for now. Xavier has been drinking. We can talk to him again after he sobers up.”

Although Lauren was angry, she also knew her son was grown up, had his own ideas, and no longer listened to his mother.
