Urging Him to Get a Divorce novel Chapter 86

Chapter 86

Seeing how Xavier was defending Josie, Aveline frowned slightly at him while gently tugging on the back of Fiona’s shirt, afraid Fiona would actually take the bet.

Xavier was rich and powerful. To stand up for Josie, there was no telling what he would do to boost the movie’s box office numbers.

Fiona was a professional lawyer, not stupid enough to make such a childish bet with Xavier. She smiled and said,

What does it matter if I underestimate her? As long as you think highly of her, that’s all that matters.

Xavier smiled faintly, took a sip of his drink, and gave Aveline a seemingly casual glance.

Maybe her frowning at him had annoyed him.

Just then, Sebastian said, It’s getting late, Fiona. Shouldn’t you be opening your presents?

Aveline knew Sebastian was trying to ease the tense atmosphere. She met his gaze, smiled, and pulled Fiona to her feet.

Come on, let’s go open presents. The gifts from me, Jasmine, and Julian were all carefully chosen. I hope you like them.

Fiona laughed. Darling, if it’s from you, I’ll definitely love it. I’m just that biased when it comes to you.

Aveline gave Fiona a wry smile and nudged her lightly, signaling her to stop messing around.

Fiona leaned in and whispered, I just can’t stand the way your soontobe exhusband defends her.

Aveline shook her head and gave a helpless smile.

Xavier was completely ignoring her, treating her like she was invisible, while showering Josie with affection.

She wasn’t sure if she was upset, because a deep part of her kept telling herself not to take it seriously.

Anyone here who didn’t know the situation would definitely think Josie was Xavier’s woman. That he must be madly in love with her, which is why he wouldn’t let her suffer the slightest grievance.

Besides that, Xavier might also be putting on a show for her, worried she didn’t really want the divorce and deliber- ately trying to provoke her.

Since it was time to open presents, everyone gathered around the coffee table.

Fiona smiled and said, Aveline’s is the grand finale. I’ll open the others first.

Sebastian asked, What about mine?

pnine saw this and got an idea. She leaned closer to Xavier and said, If my sister hadn’t married you, I would’ve thought Fiona was trying to set her up with Mr. Harmon.

Xavier glanced coolly at Sebastian, then at Aveline, lowered his eyes to take a sip of wine, and said nothing.

Fiona unwrapped the gifts one by one. Whether she liked them or not, they were all thoughtfully chosen by the givers, so she had to act like she was pleased.

Jasmine’s and Julian’s gifts were together, and Fiona unwrapped them at the same time. They were both things she would like.

Fiona smiled and said, Aveline must have given you the idea.

Jasmine and Julian had nothing to hide and admitted it with a smile.

The gifts were expensive. Fiona knew they were grateful to her for introducing them to her cousin, which helped them land that landscape design project.

Fiona stood up and gave Jasmine a hug. When it was Julian’s turn, she saw his nervous expression and how he glanced at Aveline, and she laughed:

What are you so nervous about? Do you have a crush on Aveline? Are you afraid she’ll see me hug you and get the wrong idea?

Julian blushed and stammered, Whwhat are you talking about?

Aveline shot Fiona a look, as if to scold her for teasing again.
