Chapter 97
Julian gave Aveline a deep look and couldn’t help but ask, “This divorce of yours has been dragging on without being finalized. Is it because Xavier doesn’t want to go through with it?”
Aveline let out a sarcastic laugh. “Of course he wants to. It’s just his mom and his grandpa who don’t approve. I have no idea what kind of game he’s playing.”
Julian said, “Then we’ll help you move tomorrow.”
Aveline shook her head, “That’s not necessary. I don’t have much at my studio. I’ll just pack my clothes and daily things, put them in the car, and head right over.
I’ll move my things over early tomorrow morning, then come back to work.”
Hearing her say that, Jasmine and Julian didn’t insist.
In the afternoon, just after Jasmine and Julian left, Aveline was about to make dinner when her phone rang.
She saw it was a call from Xavier, ignored him, put her phone down, and walked to the kitchen.
The phone rang for a long time, stopped, and then rang again, as if it was determined to get her.
Finally, it stopped ringing, but a moment later, the notification sound for a WhatsApp video call rang out.
Aveline walked over to take a look; it was from Valentina.
She thought for a moment, declined it, and then sent a message to Valentina, 【Valentina, what’s up?】
Valentina replied: [Auntie, why aren’t you answering Uncle’s calls?)】
Aveline: 【I just didn’t want to. Do you need something?】
Valentina: 【Uncle and I are here to pick you up and take you home.]
Aveline frowned slightly, 【What do you mean?】
Valentina: 【To take you home.]
【Uncle’s already heading up.】
Aveline was stunned, 【Are you guys at the Anmin Residential Community?】
Valentina: [Yeah.]
Just then, Aveline heard someone entering the passcode outside her door.

Aveline frowned and muttered a curse, “Damn it, I forgot to change the code.”
Xavier opened the door and came in. He stood in the foyer and looked at her, his gaze calm. “Let’s go.”
Aveline said coldly, “Xavier, are you insane? Go where? I’m not going anywhere.”
Xavier said, “You promised Valentina you’d cook for her today. She’s waiting downstairs.”
As he spoke, he walked into the room, his dark, deep eyes fixed on her.
Aveline retorted, “When did I promise that?”
Xavier smiled. “Valentina asked you under your comment on the Social Feed. I replied to her for you. You didn’t see it? That seems unlikely.”
Aveline sneered, “You promised her, not me.”
Xavier smiled again. “Then if you didn’t agree, why didn’t you reply?”
Aveline glared at him coldly. “Does not replying mean I agreed? What kind of twisted logic is that?”
“Don’t argue with me about this. Let’s go. Or you could pack your things while you’re at it and just move back today.”
Aveline scoffed. “I didn’t agree. I’m not going back today. When I go back is up to me.”
“To Valentina, if her uncle agrees, then her aunt agrees. We’re a unit, so you have to come back with me and cook for her.”
Xavier said calmly, as if he were stating a profound truth.
“If you don’t come downstairs with me, Valentina will definitely cry.”
Aveline gave him a cold look. “Xavier, what exactly are you trying to pull?
The Patriarch won’t agree to our divorce, so you’re playing some kind of game, aren’t you?”
Xavier smiled helplessly. “Then let’s just say I’m playing a game.
Move back in, and we’ll sign the agreement.
