Chapter 346
I picked out a black shirt that hung all the down to my thighs and put on a pair of white boxers.
The stairs were creaky as I tiptoed down them. I had to pass the spot where Alexander and I had sex last night in order to get to the kitchen. A warm blush spread across my cheeks when I spotted the blue condom wrapper laying on the ground. At least it wasn’t the condom itself. I threw it away, my cheeks still heating with embarrassment.
I walked into the kitchen and admired the fancy stainless steel appliances and large counter space. I liked my kitchen back at my apartment, but it was so tiny compared to this one. This one was about four times the size as mine. I opened the large fridge, expecting not to find anything, but there was a carton of eggs, milk, bacon, and a fresh loaf of sourdough bread on the counter.
As I gathered the ingredients to make French toast and bacon, I wondered if Alexander came to this house often since I found his clothes in the closet and food in the fridge. But I immediately dismissed the thought. Ever since I started working for him, I’d been around Alexander pretty much night and day. I didn’t know when he would have time to come here without my knowledge.
Who else would be living here, though? I thought about that as I cracked the eggs into the bowl and measured the milk to pour it. Milk had a short shelf life, and it wasn’t even close to being expired. Who else lived here, and why did Alexander have a key to the house?
As I began to cook the French toast, Alexander ambled into the kitchen. “It smells amazing in here,” he said appreciatively.
He came up and wrapped his arms around my waist, pressing me against the front of his hard body. When he kissed the top of my head, my heart did a little flip.
Alexander offered to make the bacon and cooking together seemed so…domestic. I finished the French toast while the bacon was still cooking, so I popped it into the oven to stay warm and wandered around the house.
I didn’t like what I discovered.
The rest of the house was gorgeous. The decorations were understated and modern, but in a good way. Most of the decor was either cream–colored or made of glass. Expensive artwork hung on the walls–usually colorful abstracts or gorgeous pastel landscapes.
But curiosity got the best of me. I went back into the master bedroom where Alexander and I had

slept in the closet I hadn’t noticed the woman’s clothes before. There was even a lace chaise lounge in the middle of the room where a woman would sit and put on her shoes. In the bathroom. I found a tube of red lipstick, diamond earrings, face masks, and a pink bath robe.
The more feminine items I discovered, the more my stomach lurched. Jealousy tore through me, and I wondered if Alexander was sleeping with other women. Was he using this house to do so? I just didn’t know where he would find the time. As I walked back down the glass stairs, I wondered if I should ask him about it. I didn’t want to appear jealous like I had accused him of being last night. But a gnawing feeling started in the pit of my stomach as I wondered what other possible explanation there could be for the tampons I saw under the sink.
I followed the smell of freshly brewed coffee into the kitchen. Alexander had made much more than the bacon. The large dining room table was loaded with my french toast, crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, sliced avocado, and freshly cut strawberries and bananas in a bowl. Alexander had even poured us glasses of orange juice and cups of coffee. I knew that he had put my spot at the head of the table because I took my coffee black.
