Chapter 103

The vibe in the private room was off, so Teresa quietly slipped over to Wendy’s side.
Wendy turned off the music and lights, which really ticked off George. He lost it on the spot.
Everyone in the room went dead quiet.
Wendy stood quietly, her gaze on George calm and distant.
When she spoke, her voice was low. “George, are you happy when you’re with me?”
George could tell something was off with Wendy. She never brought up their relationship in front of others, but now she was asking so casually, as if it didn’t matter at all.
He paused, pushing the whole music and lights thing to the back of his mind for now.
“I’m happy. What’s up?” George said.
His tone was a little off, like he really didn’t want to talk about it.
Wendy’s eyes turned red, but she gave a faint smile. “But George, I’m just not happy anymore.”
She could forgive George for cheating, for hitting her, but she just couldn’t forgive the way he thought about her parents.

‘How could he say my parents had to beg him before he’d agree to marry me? If that’s really how it is, I’d rather stay single forever,’ Wendy thought.
Teresa stood off to the side, and she could tell Wendy was dead serious. This time, it wasn’t just for show.
When George heard Wendy say she wasn’t happy, he looked confused. “What do you mean? Are you picking a fight again?”
Wendy was always the first to cave whenever they argued.
George always had the upper hand when it came to their fights.
But this time, Wendy wasn’t going to give him the chance.
Wendy met George’s eyes, dead serious. “George, it’s over between us.”
George was caught off guard, but he didn’t say a word to stop her or try to explain himself.
He remembered that this wasn’t the first time Wendy had talked about breaking up.
But every time, she’d always come back to him, asking to make up.
So this time, he just assumed it would be no different.
He didn’t bother to stop her or say anything to defend himself.
Wendy had seen this coming, so she wasn’t disappointed. She just grabbed Teresa’s hand and headed out.
George didn’t even wait for them to leave before he turned the music back on and switched the lights on
The room instantly came back to life.
Finally, someone couldn’t hold back anymore. “George, you should probably go talk to Wendy. She looks pretty pissed”
But George just shrugged it off “Don’t sweat it. She’ll be crawling back to me soon enough. Without me, who else would want her? Who’d be interested in a woman who’s basically used up?”
His friend still tried to reason with him. “George, don’t you think that’s a bit harsh?”
George grabbed the microphone and said. “What’s the big deal? Let’s keep the party going. She’ll come crawling back.”
His voice blared through the microphone. Teresa and Wendy, already halfway down the hall, caught his shout loud and clear.
George was obviously using the mic to warn Wendy not to make a scene.

Chapter 103
Teresa, worried about Wendy, gripped her hand tighter without thinking.
Wendy paused and gave Teresa a reassuring smile. “Teresa, I’m really okay,” she said softly.
Teresa forced herself to relax and let it go, not pressing any further.
But then Wendy gestured in a direction and said, “Teresa, check it out over there.”

Teresa followed her gaze and spotted Charles, Yolanda, Jason, Naomi, and Finn hanging out together.
The bar was noisy and messy, and honestly, Yolanda was far too young to be in a place like this.
Teresa glanced at the time. It was almost eleven.

Teresa was really annoyed thinking about how Yolanda had been complaining about her stomach just a few days ago. She’d already told Charles that Yolanda needed to stick to a normal routine.
Obviously, he hadn’t paid any attention to her words.
Annoyed and fed up, Teresa found herself marching straight over to Charles and his crew without even thinking.
But after a few steps, she stopped dead in her tracks.
She thought, ‘Even if I get Yolanda out of the bar tonight, what about next time?
‘If I go over now, Yolanda will just snap at me for meddling.
After hesitating, Teresa decided to just leave it be.

She thought, ‘Why go out of my way when it is just a thankless job? I’ve already done everything I can. Whatever happens next, it is up to Charles to handle.
Teresa kept herself in check and didn’t butt in. Instead, she took Wendy’s hand and the two of them walked out of the bar together.
Once they stepped outside, they stood by the curb, letting the night air cool them off.
After they’d calmed down, neither of them brought up anything about relationships.
Wendy turned to Teresa and said, “Come help me pack up my things.”
Teresa didn’t even hesitate. “Sure,” she replied.
Wendy looked a bit surprised. “You’re not going to ask me anything?”
Teresa shook her head. “I can see you’re really ready to move on. You look just like I did back when I finally let go of Charles.”
Wendy gave a little smile. “Honestly, Teresa, deep down I always knew I was clinging to something that wasn’t right. But sometimes, you don’t really turn back until you’ve hit rock bottom.”
Teresa blinked, surprised. “Wendy, are you saying…”
Wendy kept that faint smile. “Yeah, I begged him to get back together, and I treated him so well on purpose. I just wanted to see just how heartless he could get. I wanted to know if there was anything left in him at all.”
Teresa didn’t know what else to say. She just hugged Wendy tight, trying to comfort her, “It’s over now. Whenever you let go, it’s never too late!
Some people could let go in a heartbeat, but for others, it took getting hurt over and over until both sides were left battered and broken
When they got back to Wendy’s place, Teresa helped her sort through everything.
They were in the middle of packing when Teresa’s phone lit up. It was Charles calling.
She really didn’t feel like answering, but just in case something had happened to Yolanda, she picked up anyway.
“What’s up?” Teresa asked bluntly as soon as she answered.
