Charles had just finished reading a few medical journals when he saw the freshly released news from reporters about Troy and his rumored girlfriend.

The moment he spotted the trending topic, he couldn’t help but click on it.

Charles wasn’t usually one for gossip, but tonight, for some reason, he just had to see what it was all about.

The headline was pure tabloid gold. Troy caught hooking up with his girlfriend in a car.

The photos didn’t show the woman’s face, but the silhouette and clothes looked oddly familiar to Charles.

Charles furrowed his brows. ‘Could that really be Teresa in those photos?‘ he thought.

Before he could think about it any further, Naomi came downstairs.

“Charles, what are you looking at? You seem totally lost in it,” Naomi said, settling down beside him.

Charles casually put his phone away, glancing up at her with a faint smile. “Nothing special.”

Before wrapping up, he asked, “By the way, is Yolanda asleep?”

Naomi nodded. “Yeah, she was worn out from playing. I gave her a bath, and she crashed right after.”

“And your mom? Is she asleep too?” asked Charles.

“Yeah, she’s also asleep,” Naomi replied.

Charles glanced at Naomi, taking in her pure, angelic face. Her features were perfectly sculpted, and her skin was so fair and radiant that even without a hint of makeup, she was drop–dead gorgeous.

But these past couple of days, she looked really drained.

Charles’s heart ached for her, and he couldn’t help but say, “You should get some rest too. It’s been tough on you these days.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Naomi’s eyes turned red with emotion. She couldn’t hold back anymore. Her head dropped, and tears streamed down her cheeks. “Charles, thank you.”

Seeing her cry, Charles felt sorry for her. He reached out and gently wiped away her tears, asking softly, “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

Naomi leaned into Charles, burying her face in his chest as she murmured, “You’re always there for me when I need you.”

Charles wrapped his arm around her shoulders, gently patting her back as he soothed her, “It’s okay, sweetheart. This is what I should do. You don’t have to thank me.”

The more Charles tried to comfort her, the more Naomi broke down in tears.

So Charles held her close, his hand cradling the back of her head as he gently stroked her soft, long hair.

After crying for a bit. Naomi finally spoke in a raspy voice, “Charles, I’m going to help my mom find somewhere to live.”

Charles gently eased her away, gazing down at her softly: “Once your mom comes to Riverdale, have her stay at Joyacre Villa. Yolanda loves having her around, and this way, you can look after both of them without running yourself ragged.”

Naomi sull looked uncertain. “But…”

Charles cut her off. “Alright, go get some rest. Once we’re back in Riverdale, you’ll need to catch up on all the schoolwork you’ve missed.”

Naomi smiled at last, “Got it”

Charles smiled warmly at her, signaling for her to head upstairs and get some rest.

Naomi turned away reluctantly and made her way up the stairs

But once she was out of Charles’s sight, climbing the stairs, Naomi’s lips curled into a cold, contemptuous smirk.

After Naomi left, Charles scrolled back to the top trending story. The more he looked at those photos, the more convinced he became. The woman had to be Teresa.

Just to be sure, he tried calling Teresa on video.

The call went through, but nobody picked up.

He called three times in a row, but still, no one answered.

Finally, he decided to call Sharon.

“Mr. Logan,” Sharon answered.

“Is Mrs, Logan home?” Charles asked.

Sharon replied, “Mrs. Logan left after she found out Miss Yolanda wasn’t at Joyacre Villa. She hasn’t come back since.”

There was a brief silence on Charles’s end before he finally responded, “Okay.”

After hanging up, Charles gripped his phone tightly, zoning out for a while.

Teresa used to be so warm and caring, always smiling at him, checking in, making sure he was okay.

But now, she wouldn’t even call him on her own anymore.

If she did call, it was only to ask about Yolanda.

Charles couldn’t help but feel that Teresa was acting stranger and stranger these days.

‘Is Teresa really hooking up with Troy?‘ he thought, a mix of disbelief and unease swirling inside him.

Meanwhile, after finishing her shower, Teresa stepped out of the bathroom and stood there for a long moment, lost in thought as she absentmindedly touched the bracelet on her wrist.

Worried about waking Monica up, she’d put her phone on silent mode.

Because of that, she missed all of Charles’s video calls without even realizing it.

When she finally saw the missed calls, she didn’t even think about calling back.

Before bed, she absentmindedly opened a video app. The first video that popped up had a tag saying that this might be someone she knew.

Taking a closer look, Teresa realized it was Naomi’s account.

Yates Daily had just posted a photo of her being hugged, with only the guy’s shoulder and jawline showing.

Teresa didn’t even have to look twice. She instantly knew it was Charles.

The caption was sickeningly sweet: [You’re always there for me when I need you. Your embrace is so warm. Charles, I love you)

That video instantly made Teresa lose all interest in her phone, so she just tossed it aside.

But that night, she spent hours tossing and turning, only managing to fall asleep when it was almost dawn.

Sunday rolled around. Teresa took Monica out to the amusement park, and they spent the whole day having fun. It was past five in the afternoon by the time they finally made it back to the Sullivan Mansion.

When they got home, Yvonne and Linda were already in the kitchen, busy preparing dinner.

After dinner, the whole family went out for a stroll.

Teresa’s phone went off out of the blue, and to her surprise, it was Wendy calling. She hadn’t heard from Wendy for ages
